RO Chrono on bracelet
Was chatting with a friend today and told him I had never tried on an AP, he ran home and grabbed this beauty, then proceeded to tell me to borrow it for the weekend. Offered it to me for a smoking hot deal too, I’m really considering it now. Far out of my price range but if I consolidated my collection I could do it. Originally came on rubber and it needs a service, but I love it more and more every minute it’s on my wrist

Hmm, misaligned screws is usually a bad sign.

It looks great but the screws scare me. Did AP service it or someone else?

That's a older generation ROO. I'll say pass unless you are getting a fantastic price for it. The misaligned screws is a question. Depending on how much you trust your friend, it might need a vetting by APSC.

He wants $6,000USD and welcomes any inspection and has seemingly been fourthcoming. Seems like a good deal even with service and overhaul

That's an obviously fake watch. Date is wrong too.

Gen or not, it’s beat up real bad and hasn’t been treated well. I would pass or have him send it for full APSC service and say when it comes back as new, you will pay the asking price + full service cost.

Guy has a line on a GMT C for $8,500 and wants this baby gone. Idk why it makes a difference whether it’s serviced or not before I purchase. It needs a slipper clutch, a polish and these screws put back in right. Seems to be priced well under market value due to the condition

The only reason I would suggest before is that should there prove to be any issues that a service can’t fix, or the cost of the service is exorbitant such that you decide against proceeding then all you would need to do is cover the shipping costs to APSC and back. Just seems like a few too many unknowns on this one, so if it was me I would be looking to risk mitigate. Of course your cash, so your call ! But as always, caveat emptor.

Few more pics. Will get one of the movement Tuesday, I don’t think it’s fake but she’s definitely got some problems.
Seems to line up perfect to me |

Something looks off to me, can’t quite put my finger on it though. I’d avoid despite the good price unless I could have it sent it in, serviced and verified at AP before giving him the $.

I read it and questioned what the difference was. I actually saw the movement before he handed me it for the weekend so I knew it was real, but it’s always interesting to see why authentic watches are obviously fake.

I’ve never seen, nor have anything to compare the older ROO movements too, but AP have either radically upped their standards or that hasn’t come from Le Brassus.

I maintain what i said, it is obviously a fake watch. If you want to confirm 100%, i'd suggest you request AP to take a look at it and service it. After all, your friend wouldn't sell you a fake for such a high price.

Can’t say it’s fake but a few things put me off and personally would last.
Points as listed above but also the bezel screws don’t look to be seated correctly, maybe it’s down too whoever open it but they just look too sunken IMO. |

The location of the date and the finish of the movement indeed raise question marks.
Even though I am not a 100% sure the pictures above are from a ROO from 2008 (Though, I assume so because of the link you shared) it doesn't seem to match the ROO movement of AP at that time. In any case, definitely let the APSC look at it before you spent the money. |
