Love it, I'm currently debating a 16570 or a 14060 as my next purchase to pair with a 114270 Seems like getting a pretty good deal on a pre ceramic Sub ship has sailed though

‘Ed can you make sure you say something ridiculously unbelievable at the end please?’

Sure...

‘This watch was the most important piece of equipment on all of my climbs’

‘That should do it - thanks Ed’

If I ever climb Everest, I’ll make sure a watch is the first thing I take with me above any safety equipment, food or drink. I’m sure you’d all do the same right guys?

Glad to see a person who doesn’t care about scarcity, market value and investment potential of his Rolex

You're reading a lot into it, food or drink isn't equipment. But how much time is available at certain altitudes before xyz happens is actually extremely important...so there may be sound reasoning to that statement beyond marketing. As a soldier, a leader, you cannot function or lead without a watch....so I can relate to his statement.

Yeah, that's because he got in before the big shortage! (And I'm sure Rolex gave him a whole bag full of watches to make the video )

Yep, watches are absolutely one of the most important items in the field. He mentions in other write-ups about using it to tell the turn-around time and one of his more famous quotes is "Submitting is optional; getting down is not." I think besides all of the "standard" equipment, like ropes, crampons, etc., his watch is his most important tool.

Ed Viesturs is definitely my favorite brand ambassador; And I like that he wears a 16570, not a new model, like everyone single other Rolex ambassador... In terms of adventure watches, I think that watch is the "Paul Newman" of Explorers...

"It's probably the most important piece of equipment I had on me for all these climbs." Maybe it was the only piece of equipment that made all the climbs. I'd likely defer to something like boots as being the most important. I wonder who wrote the script. Still a very alluring video for the Exp II.
