Grail watch an supportive wife
So I'm back in my home town of Abilene, Texas, and stop by the local jeweler (Busch Jewelers) where I've done business since the early 1970s, when I saved up to buy one of the insanely cool new Accutron Spaceviews. I bought my first Rolex, an Oysterquartz recently returned from a full service, there in 1978.
And they have a Milgauss GV in the display case! It hadn't even occurred to me to see if they would; a tiny Texas cow town isn't exactly the venue I'd expect. So I bought it (and actually got a discount off MSRP. Doing business there for 35+ years entitles one to some consideration, I guess): My wife's not a watch collector, but she's an avid knitter, so I now have a unique Rolex accessory: Rolex socks! |

Dude, she's a keeper.
If I came home with a watch. My wife would want me to either take it back, or take her there and get her a matching one too. |

Don't know which I like better, the sock or the watch! Congratulations, and wear them both in good health.
Cheers, Chris

Those socks are cool
So your wife keeps your feet warm and the new watch is a bonus. Enjoy that GV, you will love that green crystal edge. Just a great watch to wear and admire.

Hey mate !!
Why not get a stocking, print the rolex crown on it, buy a lady rollie put it in the stocking and surprise her!! or better still, get a bra, print the crown, sew a zip to seal the two cups together and put the rollie inside... the two cups put together looks like an oyster case right....

Yeah, I was taking the photos in front of a window with sunlight streaming in. I kept playing with the white balance but could never get it just right...

That is a very nice watch!
And to add the socks as well, I think you could get the money back you paid for the watch by selling them to TRF's!!! Enjoy your watch in health Si |

Several people have asked about the socks. For those of you who don't know knitters, understand that knitting your own socks, sweaters, etc. makes about as much sense as, say, paying thousands of dollars for a mechanical watch that's less accurate that a $50 Casio.
Even a pair of socks based on a very simple pattern with no design at all takes perhaps 8-16 hours of labor. More complex socks (pics on request) can take much longer. The base of the Rolex socks was very simple, but the crown had to be hand-embroidered, which took a long time. So if any of you are holding out hopes for your own Rolex socks...well...you or your SOs need to learn how to knit! |
