How did a Panerai find you?

As for me, I bought an Omega watch as my first foray into luxury watch, and few weeks wearing it, it didn't appeal to me and I was itching to replace it. I searched around the net what are available.

Until I saw a picture of Panerai, it was love at first sight straight away. Did research on it and looked up for ADs at official website. Went to one nearby AD the following weekend. Had a look at Panerais for real. Then I had to decide which one was my first PAM.

Weeks later, I promised to get it for my birthday but I said to myself dammit it and went to the other AD. Got my first PAM and I'm glad that I got the damned PAM sickness!

My first PAM was around July '08. Ah yes I intend to get more down the road.

What about yours?

Well, I saw pics of them all over the place online. Thought they looked good and all, but nothing special. Was really into Rolex at the time (still am really) and I went to my AD to look at a White Explorer II. Was disappointed with it as it didn't smile at me. I really wanted a white faced watch at the time and the AD was trying to push a white TT Daytona on me. Told him I don't like TT and then he said come over here.

He took out a Panerai 51 white face Lum with a bracelet and 40mm case. LOVED the way it looked, but wasn't ready to drop $$$$ on a watch I knew so little about.

I tried on the 44mm models they had and thought they looked goofy on me.

Won't bore you with the rest of my decision, but that is how it started and this is my Pam that I have so far....

My first "Luxury" watch is PAM 112 H serial in early 2006. Already flip it, because when that time I'm crazy about Rolex. I flip my 112 for bought Explorer II white.
Why I sold my 112? Because my "First Real Love" of Panerai is triple one.
And now, I already got my "DREAM" Panerai.
But still want more and more.
190, 233 & 000 is on my future list.

Ohhh... I HATE Panerai!!!

pan

its a long story when i first got into the more expensive watches, my 1st one was a Rolex 14060 in 89. and my best friends brother also fond of watches , was wearing his panerai on my mates BD ... so my mate asked his brother to show me his... (watch...perverts..)
at that moment he had a pre-vendome luminor t-dail, i heard of the make, but that was all, but it never let me go again after. After a few other watches i thought of panerai again , started looking on the web for these and was sold on them...only realizing then what a watch my mates brother had i asked him where his was, he just sold it off for 1200 Euro's!!!!! 3 month's prior ... i thought i dropped dead.. he had really no idea what he had in his hands ... his buddy who he sold iff off to quickly realised what he had , as i offered double for it , but HO HO HO , he did his homework......

but that is how i got round to a Pam for the 1st time... now i suffer from short term memory loss according to my wife as i tend to forget my new purchase directly, and see another i want .... Paneritis .. i think so....

Very short story, I was at one of the Tourneau's in the area looking for a totally different watch, a guy walks in ask a couple of questions and I look at his wrist and saw that watch!! I was like what the heck is that .

So I decide to ask him, he was very nice show it to me, let me try it and explain a little about the brand, from that moment on it was love at first sight it was July 08.

I had just bought my Sub ( 2nd Rolex) and was on this forum.
Daren (Dman) kept posting pictures of his.
I studied the Panerai website and found 2 I really liked.
Luckily one of the 3 Canadian AD's was a short drive from me.
I went down & they had the two I liked. I picked up the 113 right then ( stupidly left the 190 behind).
About a dozen Pannies later, I am still loving them.
