The Blanket Statement is no longer Accepted here
I have read a few posts saying that after all the Buying, Flipping and Trading and sometimes Re-Buying, that the 116610ln Black Dial Submariner Date is the watch to Own...
Lol I have said it myself only to have gone Beyond that statement and have to Make a Retraction. If you look at my Siggy down below, you will notice that the Above stated SUBMARINER is now gone. You know, not like stolen or anything but gone via a FedEx Tracking Label provided by Perpetualman88. (A Trusted Seller and all around Great Guy...) Yes I have succumbed to the Flip of what others have said is the end-all be-all of ROLEX watches. My point is that these Blanket statements, regardless of the journey it took to get there are not viable here, at least with me, here on TRF …

It’s hard to have a blanket statement for anything in life. Especially hobbies and even more especially this crazy hobby called watch collecting. What was it that made you sell the sub? Anything specific?

Look at all those lovely watches in your sig.. I think you are just a watch'man at heart and you need to try them all. Some guys are happy to wear the same Submariner for a lifetime.
I got bored with the LN quickly and have been through several iterations of TT..I'll be happy when I get my grail (I hope) but even that target piece keeps changing! Sound familiar? |

..... Yeah, but the SubC date is pretty much the be all and end all.

I guess you won’t know until you try it. Something might seem like the perfect endgame piece, you receive it and then something else pops up..we’ve all been there.
So what’s next?

Meh.
Blankets and Rolexeses cause problems. Accept your failings like me with other Rolexeses I’ve owned and kicked out of the house. Say it was them, and not you. |

I can relate to this. Not the sub, but the sentiment.
Many of us are truly searching for the perfect watch that will bring contentment. Many a time I’ve made similar statements. “This watch ticks all my boxes. It’s all I’ll ever need” etc. But similar to most things, true watch contenentment comes not from the watch, but from the person wearing it. No blanket statements for me either, going forward. I’ve gone back on them too many times. I just want to enjoy my watches.
