Next watch: DJ 36 - dial opinions?

My first (and only) Rolex is an Oyster Perpetual with blue concentric dial and arabic numerals that I bought some years ago.

[I'd love to post a pic of it, but it's telling me I need a higher post count in order to...]

I got the bug to get a bit dressier watch, so I'm looking at a Datejust 36 with Jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel. I'm curious what opinions are on whether I should get a silver/stick dial (i.e., 116234-0080) or the black concentric with arabics (116234-0107).

I'm deadlocked between the two, so just looking for a bit of a nudge. :) I like the concentric dial, but I want it to be distinct enough from my OP to make it worth the purchase, and also I want it to be a tad dressier than what I currently have. Given that brief, what do you guys think?

Have you tried on both at an AD? If not go and try them on. That will often solve your problem.

...I'd love to, but I can't track one of the black concentrics down in person, although my AD said he could order one of them in if that's the one I want - hence the catch 22 :)

i have the black dial with diamonds and love the fact that the black is sunburst and not flat, but i think between the two you listed i would pick the silver. i feel like if you want a more dressier watch the arabics look out of place. as mentioned above though you should really go try them both on and see how you feel

The silver stick dial is more beautiful and timeless to me.. I would go for that one.

I think the black would be a bit too busy for me, so I'd go with the silver/stick, of those two.

I had a 116234, Jubilee, fluted, silver stick dial, and it was fantastic. It was traded away a long time ago, when I used to trade more often, but i still miss that watch. It's a great combo.

Yeah, I'm really, really leaning toward this combo. Both great dials, but I agree with what others have mentioned –– that the arabic numerals probably take the "dressiness" factor down a notch, and I already have that look with my OP.

(that said, I reserve the right to pull a 180º and report back that I went concentric )

I have a black concentric on the way now. I agree its not the dressiest DJ but its just such a gorgeous dial, I also went fluted bezel and jubilee. You can't go wrong though, both great options.

Totally agree. I love the look of the concentric. If I didn’t already have a similar style on my OP, it’d be an easy choice. I also want to grab it before Baselworld out of fear they’ll update the clasp like they did on the Rolesor models (although you get the new movement as part of the package)...

Black concentric dial is stunning! Was struggling to decide between the same 2 dial and finally go for the silver/stick for the more classic look and......the chapter ring, a MUST HAVE for me..
