Gmt master 16700 question

Does anyone knows if this watch was available with coke insert at the time? ( 1999 Swiss dial ) or just LN and Pepsi ?

I want to put the coke insert but I do like things as original as possible.

Black and blue/red only on the 16700.

Black/red was limited to the 16760 and 16710. But, it's your watch and no one will fault you for wanting to go Coke.

It's your watch do what you like. You can always change it back.

Its a great watch and was my one and only for 17 years - never missed a beat. Enjoy the ability to switch bezel inserts, which make it feel like multiple watches.

Yup, it's a popular aftermarket configuration. But, Coke is still rare to see in the wild where Pepsi seems ubiquitous. During travel this year I've seen about 10:1 at airports and large cities on 4- and 5-digit models. Just about every 6-digit I've run across was a BLNR.

Ha ha ha
That would be great to finally see. It's all that's missing from the GMT lineup.

I traded even my 16710 Pepsi for a 16710 Coke, was getting tired of all the Pepsi’s out there.

A lot of ADs would probably have done the swap at one point. A 5 digit GMT is a 5 digit GMT imo. All the colours look great. A few years ago someone posted a 16710 with a rootbeer insert which also looked cool in a very wrong sort of way.

Agreed. Back in the day it was easy to swap parts at an AD.

I've considered a root beer insert myself but wasn't sure how 'wrong' it would look. I'll have to search for pics.

So you think BLNR is popular or as popular as Pepsi ?

I wear the LN and I think people mistake it for a sub, But honestly it has such a great feel to it, and very different to the BLNR which i also own. Do not forget the LN it is awesome and it is only GMT that flies under the radar as it where.

Yes it is very popular, but the thing is people notice it, it has status like a Pepsi.

So it feels more ubiquitous than it is.

When I wear mine I get a ton of attention......

What about the Coke status? Is it better than Pepsi or BLNR or the same ?

I have an LN on Super Jubilee. No one mistakes it for a Sub.

The Black/red insert was introduced on, and only available for, the GMT II.

All sapphire crystal inserts are interchangeable, just not always proper.
