Consolidating SS pieces for one PM piece - who's done it?

Hi, just curious to hear from people who went all in and got rid of their SS pieces in exchange for one PM piece...any regrets or happy with that one hefty watch?

I have a SubC Date, a LVc, and a BLNR and started thinking about the 116719BLRO lately...

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Sub, blnr, $

Gold didn’t solve my variety preference

I feel like it would be difficult to have only one PM piece as my only watch. Really best to have at least one SS watch to rotate in when PM isn’t a great option

My collection means too much to me and each piece represents something. If I suddenly flipped (approximately zero percent chance), a Smurf would be the object of my madness. But I'm fairly sure the collection would slowly reassemble itself again, with some much regretted gaps in it.

Exactly my concern, too. But there are just those days where I think "what the hell, I just need one". I think a compromise (in my situation) would be to let the 116610LN go and try to get my hands on a SS Pepsi.

I’ve consolidated for PM before....but....never left with the PM piece as a one and only. I wouldn’t do that. If you want to scratch the PM itch, I’d definitely have enough saved up towards the trade to leave yourself a SS piece as well.

You need something lighter in your collection. If you're using a BLRO (WG) daily you want to cut off your wrist. If you use it on weekends, ok cool. You need a steel for your daily. Dont trade in the LVc

I got rid of my GMT BLNR and Sub-C Date to buy a 116655 YM. Didn't make sense to have two similar watches. Been daily wearing my YM since then and have never regretted it

Thank you guys...think consensus is not to have a PM piece as the only watch...what about PM on Oysterflex?

OysterFlex is amazing and comfortable. It has the right weight for sure.

I’ve done it a few times and I’m doing it again right now, I’m selling my SS BLRO Pepsi and my SS Daytona for one white gold Daytona 116509 (hopefully forever)......and I’m getting £5k back in cash which covers my wife’s recently acquired 31mm Datejust. Im very happy with this, I have worn white gold Daytona’s all day every day and for me as a financial adviser, it’s no different to wearing a SS.

I think about consolidating for a PM Daytona on OF. I think I can make the move without getting rid of all my SS but the question is what to move and will I regret it?

Current line up
16610LV
16750 matte dial Pepsi
114060
14060m 2 liner
Speedmaster Speedy Tuesday 2

Agree with Rich, I've sold a couple of watches for a PM but would have other SS as well, or preferably other PMs too, which does happen faster than you'd ever think.

I consolidated GMT Master II LN, Explorer 1, Datejust 80's for a Blue Dial White Gold Day Date. I don't regret it at all!
