Is this frog polished?

I bought a pre-owned Kermit that is supposedly unpolished, its a leap of faith really and I am a total amateur. Perhaps the more experienced amongst you can help? Has this ever been polished? I am no even sure if these are the best pictures for a good indication. Advice and comments much appreciated. Thanks!

Based on the posted pictures, it looks unpolished. The lugs look pretty sharp.

I cant tell if the second picture has bad brush marks on the side of the case or smudges. Case lines look pretty crisp to me other than that.

My 11610LV is unpolished and based on those pix I can’t give you an opinion.

If it was touched up or polished you wouldn’t be able to tell which is a good thing. That said, I don’t think you can be 100% sure but it looks like original lines to me.

I see no frog in your picture what I do see is a nice example of a 16610LV Rolex watch.And whether polished or not as long as any polish is done correctly by RSC not any problem .The cases are designed to be polished at normal service only and with today's mainly pampered watches you could have around 5 services about 40-50 years of wearing before you would notice any major difference.

Unreal all the “unpolished” responses.
Would love for for qualified folks like Bas, Rollieworks and LAW to do some test posts of polished and unpolished cases and see how many really pass.

If it was ever polished, it must’ve been done skillfully. And that, as Padi said, would not detract from owning/wearing it.

The pictures you shared look like those parts of the case are proper.

Now if you were buying it for some other reason, and trying to flip it for profit, you might describe it as “appears to be unpolished”.

Don’t spend much time thinking on it. You can’t tell and the only one who knows is the original owner. Enjoy your watch! Mine says Hi.

Of course it is polished, like 99.999% of watches on the market. How else a watch of that age does not show a mark ? Or you really believe you found the needle in the hay stack

There is a reason that on another forum the term unpolished is banned in sales ad's.
All dealers touch up their watches one way or another

+1. Unpolished is a word with little relevance in this context. Is the watch sharp? Hell Yeah:) However you left out the most important picture which would be a detail shot of the crown guards

Today this anti polish syndrome is almost at epidemic proportion anyone would think they removed half the case instead of perhaps a micron or so in normal routine polish.Below is a picture of my 1999 SD which I have two, now this watch has seen more use and abuse than most of today's Rolex owners will see in 10 life times.This was a working tool watch for many years and not a mainly pampered watch as of most of today's Rolex wearers are.It was used as a tool world wide as a dive guide and instructor PADI and BSAC. Watch on my wrist done well over 600 hours under water fresh and salt.Now this particular watch has been serviced 3 times by the RSC in different countries mainly because it was a working tool watch.Yet if you put a new SD from the same time-frame you would have to look very very hard to notice any difference.As long as any Polish is left to routine service time there is no problem with RSC polish whether 5,or 6 series or any other series past or to come.

Today the term unpolished is used mainly by sellers trying to extract more money from IMHO the fools willing to pay these hyped jumped up prices.

Looks unpolished to me. Folks will say you can never tell, but if you’ve owned a NOS Sub or SD—you’ll know what to look for and will notice the difference between polished and unpolished, even if RSC did the work. That said, I agree the term “unpolished” is thrown around too liberally and have personally seen a number of watches for sale on the forums labeled unpolished that clearly had been collages or had the cases recut.

Ooo...did not know significance of crown guards, guess that is a spot to look for? Here U go. And a whole watch shot for the heck of it.
