Auction Purchases?

Has anyone purchased a watch at an international auction absentee or online? I am considering it for the first time and was curious on the process for or experience with international shipping. I am looking at a couple watches in the Phillips Hong Kong auction. I have purchased from Christies, but it was a NY auction.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or shared experience!

Might be a little late on this but yes, I've purchased at auction overseas. PM me if you have specific questions.

25%. It's disclosed in all the catalogues.

Don't forget you may pay taxes, shipping etc also.

Since you bought from Christies before you have experience already. I would assume they all function in a similar manner.

As Jay mentioned, they are typically 25%, though some are 30%. You will have to pay shipping (and some times handling) and taxes depending on where you purchased.

The process for buying I am sure is the same, but what my questions were around the international shipping part. Import duties, shipping an alligator band, etc.

Thanks Jay - I will shoot you a note, I was out bid this time, but would like to understand how the process went.

I appreciate all your replies!
