Any thoughts on the new 911 (992)

I have been waiting some time for the launch of the new 911(992) and the interior has blown me away absolutely love it - exterior is as per usual an update that has evolved rather than revolutionary. Any thoughts?

Spent a lot of time with the car yesterday during the press release at the LA auto show. Interior update absolutely FANTASTIC.

Exterior update ... going to take some time to get used to the rear deck grille / placement of the third brake light. Understand lots of people enjoy the connected taillights, but can't say it's a huge selling point for me yet.

Can't wait to drive it however!

Lost interest when they went to a 3.0t on all cars and electric power steering. Beautiful cars but getting a bit lardy... more GT than sports cars.. granted the GT3 touring is a sweet piece of kit

Getting used to the front end. Interior looks fantastic. Panamera rear end not doing it for me at all. I understand the cost savings of cross model manufacturing but I hate that connected tail light.
On a side note....it just looks so HUGE compared to my little dinky 997.....

It’s about time the interior gets a huge update. I never liked the 991 dashboard, it’s so outdated and was slight improvement over 997.
I also like rear taillight but the front is so so.

I lost interest in 911s when they went water cooled.

Can't afford one, and if I did have that much money to blow on a Porsche it would be a 964 or a 930, definitely not a new one.

the back is fugly. the interior leaves a lot to be desired. IMO. I think the 991s are finally growing on me. may trade my 997.2 TTS in for manual 2018 GT3.

I agree on exterior. Not necessarily bad, but may take some getting used to. I see S model gets bump to 443 horsepower which is close to current GTS model. Any word yet on release date and changes for new GTS?

i like the rear tail light, but hate the black section of the rear...looks uglyyyyy

Interior looks okay, but I find the 991 interior better looking....more aggressive/racing looking.

Looks a little bloated and the tail lights took some getting used too but overall I like it, and the interior was overdue for an update.

This is excellent news. Now I'll be able to find better deals on a 991.2 which looks much better in my opinion. The GT2 style exhaust does not look good.

I don’t know about getting a good deal on the 991 but I will be keeping an eye on the prices let’s hope so as I maybe tempted but at the current prices I may just opt for the 992. I had a go on configurator on the website might have got carried away a little lol need to see one soon. Anyone know when they coming to dealers in uk?

After having done such an amazing job of fixing the first generation Panamera’s rear end, how could Porsche mess up the new 911’s tail so badly?

I don't understand why it is heavier. The tech should be used to lower the weight and most car companies are reducing weight.

Further, if they could have taken some weight out it would have better positioned the car to add the hybrid systems on later models without such a big weight penalty compared to the 991

It’s an update on the 991 platform much like the 997 was an update on the 996. The next complete revamp will be its successor eight years or so down the road.
Porsche is an engineering company first. Each generation is faster, better handling, and more efficient than the one before it. I loved my 991.1 which I drove 62K miles over four years.
The only thing that baffles me a bit is why they’re starting with only the S versions. The 991 was introduced in its four basic iterations.

I adore the look of it. The rear and interior are fantastic but not as keen on the front.

The 911 has always been my dream car & after some serious consideration I decided I should dig deep & find out if they are for me. This Summer I looked at and test drive several cars around the £20K Mark & fell in love with a well looked after 997 Carerra 2 and asked to put it on hold for 7 days.

They were the most excruciating 7 days of my life. Wondering if I really need it, bills, servicing cost etc and sadly had to let the dream go. I can’t justify it yet but one day, a 997 911 will be mine... I hope!

Beautiful cars & im sure this new model will knock it out the park. Just wish I had the cash for one!

Porsche haven't sold any new cars in the UK since June.

The 911 is way too big for a sports car. Cayman or vintage 911 is where it's at.

I have an ‘88 air cooled for sale. If you are interested... it belonged to my father in law and it’s perfect.

Think I'm sticking to my 991 a little longer.
That PDK shifter looks bad. It looks like an after thought.

Thanks for the kind offer but the 930 Turbo in my avitar is tucked away in the garage along side a 944 Turbo. Any more would be plain greedy. and I would be in trouble with the wife.

Wife, schmife. The more Porsche’s the better! Unfortunately this car belonged to my father-in-law and he had four daughters. One who is my wife. And the family has excluded anyone in the family from buying it. So I can’t. But I other circumstances I would buy this car in a second. Anyway, enjoy the turbo, that’s a hell of a car!

Same here. Also don’t like the turbos in the base models. I would get another 991 just like the 2013 I had with the NA motor and frankly if prices move lower on them I probably will

I find the interior and shape of gear shift lever and some other knobs hideous.
