One Week Later
And it’s all over. A few people have reached out to ask, so I figured it would be best and safe to simply create an update. Now that it’s over.
I asked the mods to delete the last thread based of the slew of legal suggestions of some. And I’m grateful for those that had my best wishes in mind. But as I understand it, it was my attitude that helped create this outcome. I won’t go into detail as to what happened because I don’t know enough to know if this thread could also be potentially damaging. I don’t think so, but I don’t know. I’ll just say I’m incredibly lucky. First, that nothing bad happened. Lesson learned without any true pain. Second, as even my attorney claimed, this outcome is basically miraculous. 4 points and a fine of $418. Two tickets dismissed and two severely reduced. I’ll be taking a safe driving course this weekend. Again, lesson learned. I’ll be driving the in the right lane going forward. On so many levels I got lucky. Truly, in life in general, I’m a super lucky guy. This could have been bad in so many ways. I won’t look this gift horse in the mouth. And I won’t put myself, my family or anyone else in this position ever again. Thanks again to all those that were polite and nice while that thread lived. And thanks to Ken for closing it upon my request. And lastly if anyone ever finds themselves in a similar position, I’d strongly suggest hiring the public defender.

I saw the first thread and thought that you were very contrite, I found myself hoping that you would get off. I am glad that everything turned out well Seth.

I'm glad to hear this, Seth! Live and learn and going forward I'm sure you'll be just fine and not have the same thing happen again.
I'm glad you're ok and all others are too! |

Awesome.
Glad all worked out well. With my new F-Sport, I have been a bit of a heavy foot these past few weeks. Time to slow down for me.

I missed the first thread but can guess what happened. Glad the outcome is favorable brother.
I am certainly guilty of pushing the limits at times, thanks for the reminder to be mindful. Cheers to slowing down

Excellent news! You meant no harm; perhaps got carried away because your car can easily do it; no one was hurt, and you recognized that you erred.
It sounds like you got super lucky. If we had the worst possible outcome whenever we made a not-so-good choice, how many of us would make it out of our teens? Glad it worked out and look forward to seeing the pictures of the new Camry hybrid.

Happy to hear that it worked out favorably for you Seth.
Lesson learned and you move forward with a different, and consciously safer, mindset.

Very lucky indeed Seth. Glad it worked out as well as it did.
My last speeding ticket didn’t go as well, but still not horrible. I got a ticket in the city of Rochester on the main interstate that goes thru center city. I was ticketed for 61 on this interstate where, because it cuts thru the downtown area, the speed limit is only 40. I went to court on my assigned day to try and get a reduction. I hadn’t had a ticket in over 20 years. The court clerk informed me that, contrary to every other local court, City Court does no plea bargaining. You’re either guilty or innocent. The judge found me guilty (I was) and fined me only $50 “due to my otherwise unblemished driving record”. Not bad, huh? Unfortunately 2 days later I received a letter from NYS DMV charging me a “driver assessment fee” of either $300 or $600 because I now had 6 points on my license. Twenty miles over the limit is a 6 point violation. To me it was an outright money grab. This happened 10 years ago and I, fortunately, haven’t had another ticket since then. |

Change your name from Superdog to LuckyDog and go shopping for a track car.
One of my friends has been racing on weekends for about 20 years now. Not a cheap hobby, but a good outlet when you have the need for speed.

Good to hear Seth.
I could sense the remorse in both your posts and am glad it worked out and that you seemed to have learned your lesson. Very fortunate from a fine/points standpoint but more so from a no one was hurt (including you) standpoint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

You advise hiring the public defender. Why that person over another lawyer?

Seth, so glad it worked out the way it did. Your license is GOLD. I'm sure you're a better man now because of this.
That reminds me, the wife and I gotta take defensive driving before Feb 19' or I'll lose the discount. In my former life, I used to teach DD to all our new employees. You would think I'd get a lifetime pass on it. Happy Holidays my friend.

Seth. Attitude has a lot to do with how we're judged in court and life. You caught a good break today. Use this weekend to solidify your new found understanding. Then move on. You'll be better for it.

I am glad to know the outcome - miraculous is an apt term.
