Other than Cellini, which SS Rolex can be a dress watch on a strap?

Hello fellow TRFers

I want to add a dress watch to my collection. My whole lineup is rolex:
Sub date C
Sub LVc
BLNR
BLRO
SD43
500C Black
500C White (on the way)
DJ41 blue dial, jubilee bracelet and smooth bezel
DSSD JC

I was thinking of adding an IWC, an Aqua Terra or JLC but wanted to get your thoughts of another SS Rolex that would look good on a croc strap?

Thoughts and pictures will be highly appreciated

Of those listed I have to go with the DJ.

I’m pretty traditional when it comes to a ‘dress watch’ as they are typically gold - three hand watches on leather straps with a thin case.

Other than the Cellini line - the only other Rolex watches that are truly ‘dressy’ to me are the Datejusts and the Day Dates.

Although — I think this is pretty ‘dressy’ as well...

DD or DJ are really the only ones, but I'd shy away from Rolex totally if I wanted a dress watch.

The Datejust looks good on a nice leather strap and is pretty dressy as well.

A 36mm DJ I think looks killer on a croc strap. I am thinking of adding one myself for this very reason.

I'd look for a "dress watch" dress watch, not a Rolex, but it does no harm to spend a couple hundred on a nice alligator to try out on a few of your existing watches.

Add a Master Control or Portugueiser — great watches and get some variety

I don’t normally think of stainless when I think of a dress watch. That’s when I would consider yellow or rose gold. Maybe a vintage 1803? If you really want stainless I think a JLC Reverso is pretty classic.

I know I’m in the minority, but I think most Rolexes look good on a strap. It really depends on what the occasion is and whether you’re talking about a suit or a tux.

Might need to look outside the brand on this one

Well I haven’t done it yet but I’m planning on putting a nice croc strap on my Explorer 1016 and calling it dressy enough for me. Of course I’m seldom in sufficiently formal situations where I feel the need for a true dress watch.

I'd go outside Rolex. Depending on your price point, JLC UTM or a reverso would be great choices. You could also find great deals on a grey market H. Moser, Breguet classique or Blancpain villaret.

A vintage gold Datejust on a great strap dresses up well.

I hope to have this in my watch box one of these days. It was the first Omega to use Caliber 8500. It's a bit chunkier than a true dress watch, but I think it may be a good alternative to the Rolex Professional models you own.

Other "dressier" watches that strike me:

The DeVille Tresor...

The Luminor Due:

A 36mm Datejust is a pretty safe bet IMO. While not specifically designed to be a dress watch, it was conceived to be the ultimate go anywhere, do anything timepiece. Where it with dress attire on a leather strap or jubilee bracelet, and no one will bat an eye.

This thread needs more pics!

Have you considered an Air King 14000 with baton markers?

The Tresor is beutiful and uses a handwound movement!
If it must be a Rolex then a DJ or OP as these are as close as you’ll get to a true dress watch. I personally wear a 1960’s pm OP as my dress watch

Lots of great dress watch options available as already posted , but I think the DJ 36 on jubilee takes some beating IMO .

Maybe a bit too sporty...I'd where it as a dress watch...in a pinch.

I prefer watches that are made for bracelets to be on bracelets. Same for straps. If you really want a true dress watch look at the Cellini or JLC for good value.

I like the DD on a strap, but you specify ss....no idea. I think look elsewhere if you really want a “dress” watch

I have an Aqua Terra on brown croc as my dress watch. Has the rose gold hands and indices and silverish / goldish face. My only slight issue is that it’s still fairly thick and because of the clasp it doesn’t quite sit under a cuff as well as it could. Still, it’s a lovely piece though.

For a true dress watch I’d probably go with some form of JLC with a traditional buckle and simple face.

Out of curiosity, why are you ruling out Cellini?

IWC is a great choice, and the Omega DeVille posted above is as well. I've never been that big of a DeVille fan but that one looks really sharp.

Do you have a min/max budget? How about a Seiko Presage? On the very low end of what you're talking about but a very sharp looking watch. And with the line up you have I'm guessing a true dress watch will get worn very infrequently, so why spend 10-20x more?
