Incoming! The cycle continues
Over the last few years I’ve owned a 114270, 114060, and 214270. I’ve been happy with my latest Explorer but recently started itching for a Sub again. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ceramic models since I have small wrists, so I started looking at the 5 digit models. When I saw a crisp 16610 go up for sale I couldn’t resist and pulled the trigger.
I used to dislike the old bracelets for feeling kind of cheap but for some reason I actually like them now. It’s lacking the heft of the new bracelets but this makes the watch lighter and more comfortable. I just wish the clasp had an easy link since it’s hard to adjust the older clasp without tools, and my wrist often swells later in the day. So now I’ve gone Explorer -> Sub -> Explorer -> Sub. Kind of funny how these things go. Hoping this will be the last one (at least until I can get on the list for a Daytona), but we’ll see...Reading the forums definitely doesn’t help! |

And when you say without tools, you mean a standard typical wooden toothpick right? Teasing of course, but I actually found a toothpick to be my tool of choice for the tuna can clasp on the 5 digit oyster’s as it fits the holes in the clasp perfectly, and will not scratch if it slips!

Congratulations! Personally prefer the older style bracelets too; love seeing the Rolex logo stamped into the steel!

As an owner of both ceramic and pre-ceramic versions, I tend to prefer the older versions. The bracelets feel flimsy by comparison to new bracelets but they are quite durable and secure. Both versions have their followers i guess.

Thanks! My biggest gripe with the older bracelets is they only go down to 5 links on the 6:00 side (4 if you pull a permanent link) and I need 3.5 for a good fit. Luckily the 93250 on the later 16610s comes with the half link (I think the only 5 digit watch with a half link?), so I can get a perfect fit with 1 permanent link removed.

Nice! Looks good on your wrist.
I also sold my SubC because I couldn't get on with the lugs. Was passing a used dealer yesterday, and decided to try on a 5 digit they had for sale and fell in love with it. Feels so different compared to the 6 digit Subs. On the verge of pulling the trigger on this. |
