A new lease of life

Hi to all. Not sure if this has been posted before but I just saw it and thought it was cool so just wanted to share. Very cool polishing video of a 116520 polishing job. Enjoy!

Come on.
It was nicely polished as should be at service.
All this no polish stuff on this forum is beyond ridiculous.

Love it. My question is, how many do you have to screw up on your way to being proficient?

Because contrary to the unfounded fears, a watch, at service, should be polished.
News Flash.......doesn’t affect it in any way, as long as done professionally.

BTW, I challenge this forum to tell the difference between an unpolished and one done by RSC, Rolliworks and LA Watchworks.

Tell that to collectors at auctions paying literally millions for unpolished watches that are as close to original as possible...

And yes most of our normal day to day Rolex watches these days wont be selling at auction for millions, but just imagine if Paul Newman went "hey its a just a watch it should be polished, no big deal" lol that would be a different story all on its own

But to each his own I guess

In this case, they are paying a premium for Paul Newman’s patina.
Personally, I would never want someone else’s unknown history. If I must have a discontinued piece, I would want it refreshed, erasing as much as possible any prior ownership. (My position would be totally different if I knew and respected the prior owner. In that case, the watch becomes a memento).

The major difference is one is scarce and in that case, totally agree to leave as is to retain value. The other is readily available, modern, mass produced. Doubt it will ever attain the level anywhere close to the Paul Newman.

Very true, only an expert might be able to tell

Professionally ?

Everything that was sharp (thigh) is polished round.

For me this is horror !

For people who like to have their watch polished it's insanely cool !!!

Which has more value in 15 years ?
Polished or Unpolished (that is the question).

Xanax will help with both the font and to accept polishing is OK.

Once I have worn my rolexi for twenty years I would not m8nd a light polish that did not take any sharp edges off.

The polished bezels always look horrible after polishing because the numbers and writing are no longer crisp they are rounded.....that’s why I have a few nos 520 and 500 bezels.. cool video tho

I totally and without reservation accept and respect your opinion.

It would be nice if this was a universal TRF maxim.

Sure, it's a polarizing topic, but no need to break the 'battle fonts!' Lol.

I’d be interested in getting Bas’s take on how that process differs from the RSC process.
