My first was a Sub Date 16800 I bought new in 85. I traded it with a friend for a motorcycle after less than a year. Saw the friend last weekend, he still has the Sub in great shape, I still have the moto (and more importantly my life!). I made the mistake of telling my friend his watch was now worth quite a bit of scratch, so no hope of buying it back for cheap!

My first Rolex was an Air King with a blue baton dial.
I wish I still had it, but sadly not.

I do. It's earmarked for my son when he is old enough. Hopefully he'll pass it to his son some day as well.

Yes I do. Two tone 15053 Date. It was given to me in 1988 for university graduation. I had it serviced and a new bracelet put on about a year ago.
It’s been through hell and I still love it. It’s used for dress watch duties only now.

No unfortunately years ago when I bought my first one I was young and stupid and just wanted to wine a Rolex. It was not the time finacially for me to own one. I had to sale it for cash. After that it took me 10 years before I ever thought about one again. I promised myself I would only buy when I could truly afford it. Funny thing is I think it was a datejust blue face stainless and it only cost around 4500 or so at the time maybe

Wow that 16550 is so cool. The white gold hands and surrounds look so different without the black lacquer. Also something about the dial seems different Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
