New pickup today

First are foremost, Merry Christmas and a happy new years coming up to all here on RF.

Today, I picked up a watch that I've wanted since since I was in college. Back around the 2010 period, I fell in love with the ROO and told myself I would get one eventually, and the stars aligned over the past month. At the time, I was fascinated by the 26170 Volcano and Navy but being a student, the price tag at the time was a bit steep. Also, watching the show Entourage and seeing Ari Gold wear his steel ROC was great, and I loved the look with him in a suit with his steel AP.

I'm not sure if you guys saw my for sale listing over the past week, but I posted my 1978 Rolex pepsi for sale. I hopped on the vintage bandwagon and although I thought the idea of owning a vintage timepiece was great, actually owning one was a completely different experience. I sold the watch last week and rolled the funds into the ROO see here. I have a few other watches on the list that I am looking to acquire such as brass movement FP Journe resonance and Patek 3940, but this will see some good wrist time moving forward.

The watch came with a gray alligator strap, but I'm not really a fan of the look and purchased an AP rubber strap to replace the gray leather strap. Now I can be Ari every time I put in on, minus the wife and agency.

Nice acquisition. I came very close to purchasing a ROC but ended up with the Offshore Diver a couple of weeks ago. Loving mine so far and you will love yours too. I'll have to back and watch Ari with his AP. I don't recall that.

Congrats!! Looks great on your wrist.

I was a huge Ari fan.........but didn't really know AP back then the way I do now and wasn't 'watch aware', so now I'm tempted to go back and see

Thanks. My only gripe so far is the lume is an absolute joke but it seems this is a common thing with AP. The other small thing is I wish the Arabic’s were white to make the dial a bit more legible at night but the gray/black combo is the most versatile to wear which is a big plus.

For the entourage episodes you’ll have to go into the middle to later seasons to see him with his ROC. Towards the end when he gets offered the studio head job at warner’s, John Ellis sends him a gold RO perpetual as a gift.

Nice.......will look for it.

I hear you on the lume. I'm considering the ghost, and it has white arabic numerals, which I think will help quite a bit in terms of legibility.
