AP 15400 blue dial on custom leather strap setup

So I recently got this setup installed on my watch and thought I’ll share the results with AP watch fam here.

Of course, not a match with Genta strap, but still absolutely loving the feel and the look.

I had a few other watches but I flipped everything for my APs as they are so stunning that I wasn’t able to go back to any other watch. That’s when I realised I need something that a bit more beater and stays under the radar. I think I have got my answer now as I absolutely love this RO and just can’t justify not wearing it everyday.

The wrist size is 6.5” and although I’ve continued to emphasis in my comments that 15400 very well on my flat 6.5” wrist, I think the leather strap makes the profile nice as well. It’s just first day so once the leather has broken it, I’m hoping it will sit even better. The bigger the wrist, the better, but flatter 6.5” wrist is workable as you can see :)

Enjoy and let me know what you think :)

The brown colour works well, but hope you didn’t overpay for the strap as the workmanship is honestly a bit sloppy.

Cheers mate. Yeah the guy mentioned to me that he had never made strap for RO before but I had used him before for Rolex subs.

I paid $225 for it which includes laser etching, dual colors etc so I don’t think it’s too bad.

Cheers mate. And it’s custom made, cut to my desired length, colors shades as I wanted, has my name in the font I liked; what not

I think it looks quite good... the quality of the strap is quite good too.... it gives the watch a completely different look and you always have to option to switch back to the original...

Bold and rugged! Worth the $220 you paid IMHO!

That would make sense as it’s around the plots that it’s noticeable. Not bad for a first go though, and nice to have someone who can make things to your spec. I love custom stuff too - got a load of belts, shirts, and little things like passport and even a pen case which I made myself.

I think it looks really well done, but I feel for that look it should be saved for a Panerai. It just does not look completely right for some reason. But its yours, if you like it, that is what matters!

Agree. The aged leather look is for Panerai. However, love that you've taken it the watch in a new direction. Got a few questions for you, as I've never change a strap on an AP model that came with the bracelet:

- Where did you get the "plots" that connect the strap to the case? Are they the original parts that came with the AP?

- Does the strap come with the metal tubes for re-enforcement purposes?

Thank you!

Yeah mate. I wanted my initials on which he did for me, and also length adjusted to keep the clasp at centre of lower wrist; so I’m really happy with it.

Cheers mate. I agree it’s not match to it’s iconic look but I love the fact that I’m not wearing it even lying on the sofa, without needing to worry too much about scratching it

1. Yes this is original AAP conversion kit. See the clasp below.
2. I can’t see any tubes but it was very firm at the lugs area so I didn’t have to spend too much time aligning the bar though the holes in the strap.
