Basel 2019 Submariner Poll

The poll is to get trf opinions on the rumored update to the sub. 3285 is the movement from the BLRO, could also get the 3235, so the option is “new movement” whether 3285 or 3235 (or another)

Well I certainly don’t think it’s getting a 3285

does it matter? it will just be another watch that can't be bought.

i would say sub deserves a makeover, new movement with proper lug profile.

The sub and GMT Master are totally different where the 3285 has the GMT function which a sub lacks. So it will never ever be on a sub!

A sub currently has 3135 movement and expectations are it will get the 3235 (the one currently in the DJ41 and sea dweller)

If anything I could see a white gold release but SS? No chance.

I think we will see more SS GMT versions available actually. Probably the LN.

Edit: maybe an Everose sub??

We may as well just guess 2025. Cause that's when we might see a 2019 model in an AD. If we're VERY lucky.

I've got one Rolex and now I'm moving on to other brands.

I voted for 3285 and slimmer lugs but I should have read the title more carefully. I change my vote to no change because Rolex would never put a 3285 in the Submariner because it doesn’t have a date or GMT function.

I used to own just Rolex's now I have diversified to other brands. Having owned three GMT's including a full gold 116718, I like the Tudor GMT much more, its more playfull and has also look's great on a leather strap, something I always found awkward on the Rolex GMT models.

Perhaps the only advantage of the cal 3235 is the ball bearing rotor over the sleeve type on the cal 3135.With many watches today put on these machine thing winders the extra power not a real advantage.Would doubt if the 32 series will be any more accurate or long lasting as all the other past Rolex movements.Already some have been moaning about the louder rotor noise on the 32 movements. But today many new Rolex watch owners got to moan about something,so whether they put the 32 series in the sub next year or years to follow IMHO no big deal.

I’m voting for at most a caliber upgrade. I’m wondering about the next anniversary model (LX presumably), maybe red text submariner no date version!

Just a typo from the OP. We know what he intended, the current upgrade new movement from the same existing movement.

I could see the Sub following in the SD's footsteps and getting a slightly bigger case (41mm?) with thinner lugs (some red on the dial would be a bonus), but just not yet.
So it will probably be only the 3235 movement update, although they may reserve it for a new variation at first (or launch the 3232 in a coloured no-date Sub).

LX would be 60, wasn’t the 50th in 2003? Might have to wait for the 75th anniversary

The 3235 will be the movement to come. No, not another prediction as we know Rolex does what Rolex does. It however makes sense. I wouldn't hold my breath on when because again, Rolex does >> blah blah .........

Definitely no design changes to the Sub imo. If anything a simple 3235 addition with no cosmetic changes is all we will see in the future.

Two brand new models: 38mm and 42mm.

Tudor is making a killing with the bb and the bb58, so it will be a sure thing!

Brand new movement for the 38mm.

Love the thicker mugs so if they do change it good for me! Don’t care about an extra couple hours in the movement. I only need to wind and set my watch once a month (if that).

Very close call between “update” and “no update”
