I decided to buy my first nice watch a few weeks ago Rolex was of course my first stop. I was interested in either a Submariner Date black dial or a GMT Black dial. That is when I discovered this Rolex shortage in the SS models that I was interested in. I had stopped by a local AD who had basically nothing of interest in his store. I went home and began doing some research here and elsewhere on the internet.
I stopped by a different AD one week later. Got to talking with the Salesperson and manager since their case was empty too. That is when they told me they took in a Sea Dweller 50th anniversary and asked if I wanted to see it. Of course I said sure. The watch was in the safe and the salesperson came out and had to remove it from the plastic shipping packaging. I then spent about a half hour wearing, looking at and discussing this watch. Truth is the price was a little more than I wanted to spend on the watch and I was honest about that. It would cost about $3000 more. The manager was really nice and he said he would give me a little time to think about it while he held the watch. No deposit was asked for Just my name. I decided to get this watch the other day but happened to be at the mall where the first AD store is so I stopped in. This AD is a boutique. Talking with the manager there he told me they will be getting some watches in a couple weeks Don't know how many sports or which ones for sure. He told me he would find out a day or two before they arrive. He also said if the Black GMT or Sub date comes in he would be happy to give me first crack and would text me. He has already promised out any Pepsi, Batman or Daytona he may get. Keep in mind he could also end up with a Sea-Dweller or Deep Sea also. So I have to decide. Should I get the Sea-Dweller now, or pass on it and roll the dice for the watch that would be my first choice? |

Welcome to the forum!
I would maybe hold out for what you really want considering a) it's only a couple weeks and b) you weren't really comfortable spending the extra 3K in the first place. Good luck with whatever you decide. |

The SD could very well be gone in a week, so would take that into consideration.

It’s always better to wait for what you really want. Sounds like you’ve got a good in at the AD so my vote goes for waiting
