...very LONG next days...

18 years ago a gorgeous little girl came into our life. Without a doubt, the moment I heard her beautiful voice for the first time made me understand pure and endless love in a completely different way...I knew that day what 'giving EVERYTHING' for someone was. The love from a father to a child can not be explained in words.

My little girl grew, and last year she shared with us a dream she had for a long time. Being raised catholic, she hoped one day to join teenagers in a 10 day gathering that takes place every 3 years with the Pope.

For the last 12 months, she worked real hard during some weekends and vacation...sales clerk, teacher, designer...she embarked in anything and everything she could to make some money and pay for her own ticket. She did a FANTASTIC job and not only raised the full amount, but also made some extra, while keeping a 96 score (in MX school grades are given in a 100 point scale) at school.

Today, we went to the airport where she joined a group of 73 on the flight to Jornada Mundial de la Juventud (World Youth Day) where they will be a small part of 2'000,000 teenagers who will gather for seminars, reflection and a special event with the Pope.

Watching my little girl walk into the airport, with a big smile on her face made us feel proud. VERY proud. She had a dream and accomplished it. With her own work and effort. She is learning he true meaning of things...

I have to admit the next days will be VERY long for me, as we will be counting every night that goes by until she returns home at the end of the month.

R: Have a FANTASTIC and safe trip. Smile, laugh, pray and LISTEN. Open your ears to others; you will be amazed on how much you will learn.

Me, I will be waiting for you with open arms; ready to hug and kiss you the minute I see you.

Love,

Daddy

You and L have made an amazing human being.
You should be very proud of her.

The father/daughter relationship is very special!

Good work. I went to world youth day a few years ago when it was hosted in Canada. Was an incredible experience.

Thank you. It is a learning experience for us as well; as much as we want to have her here, by our side; these moments are part of her education and a way in which she will have more 'tools' for years to come.

Hurts not to have her by my side for some days; but I know it is worth it. VERY proud.

My Son is only 3 but I am ALREADY envisioning how bitter sweet it will be to see him grow. I can only imagine. Congrats to her!

It is a very unusual feeling...you feel proud yet you worry about them...all part of this crazy trip called LIFE!

Wow...I truly am impressed by your not so little girl. Mine is still in kindergarten and I cannot imagine the day that she leaves the nest. When she was a little baby in my arms, I told my wife, ”this girl is going to break my heart one day”. Sigh...
Anyway...a father/daughter bond is a special one. So glad to hear that you raised a wonderful daughter. Congrats bro G

Let her go, G! She can't do much growing if she's always around you

She’s on her way to adulthood in so many ways. Sounds like you’ve given her all the advice she needs.

Go watch hunting to pass the time and she’ll be home before you know it.

Wishing her safe travels.

I can understand your pride in her - she's learned the lessons that you taught her growing up well and this will be a lifetime experience for her. What a blessing.

You and the Mrs. have done a great job with your kids. I like how you raised her to work for something she really wants, rather than just give it to her. Keep up the good work and she'll be in your arms shortly.

Hi G
That photo is 'awesome'! And what an unforgettable trip and experience that must have been for her, a truly magnificent, 'forever' memory.
So glad for you and your family. Probably a lot of rejoicing and stories tonight and for days to come, right?

Blessings, DM
