1st post, got new "V" SS Daytona SS mixed feelings

I received a call from the AD I've bought some new & consignment Rolex' from

I have some mixed feelings.

Good: The joy of finally having one.

Indiffernt: Paid 9925 MSRP + Tax, in CA.

Should I be bummed: I looked around and see folks indicating due to bad economy, less demand, more supplier, some AD have either color in stock, and offering discounts etc.

Can anyone let me know whether that is the case or not?

Bought, but sold cause I got tired of or needed cash for other investments:

Nondate Sub
Explorer II
Date Sub

Current:
TT Blue Sub
White MOP Diamond Dial SS Datejust
New Daytona SS Black dial V serial number.

You did fine on that Daytona IMO. Enjoy it!!!

I have heard of the discounts, but have only read of one person here actually getting the deal. I will let others chime in, perhaps they know more on this.

Anyway, do not be muffed about your Daytona. Look at it this way. 4 months ago you would have bat 10 -15% over MSRP. YOU DID GREAT!

got mine (black dial) last week. MSRP+tax in Socal. Should I be bummed about it? NO, I don't because I really enjoyed the watch. If they give you any sort of discount, I'd say it's an awesome deal. Given the current state of American economy, I do not doubt that some ADs in the state is offering discount, but I am still surprised to find that Daytona SS is still rear or hard to find - that is, at least in Socal several ADs that I have inquired have not received Daytona SS for months. I bet some people who paid MSRP before the previous price hike had the same mixed feeling and people before the previous previous price increase share the same sentiment. So Welcome and enjoy the watch.

If you can afford it, then you should not feel bummed. If not, then that's a different story. I have heard of people getting discounts, but it is not common. The SS Daytona is still a rare beast.

What is the CA sales tax rate? Just curious. Maybe you could of shipped it out of state to avoid paying the sales tax?

Enjoy the watch and that's a decent price and it's new with your name on the papers.

Congrats on the watch....

Atleast you didn't have to spend 50k in the jewelry store before you get to buy the Daytona like most AD's here in Cali tell you...

I bought mine last year for 9200 but then it went to 9900 . The retail will continue to go up and this is one awesome watch . You will soon forget about the price . I have been trying to get one for my father in in law from the AD that sold me mine and He doesnt have any to sell and he is a chain so I dont know if its that easy to get one unlees you buy on the grey market.

Don't worry too much about the price. It's the watch you've bought not the uncertainty of the price.

Welcome to TRF my man.

Congrats on your new watch!! I would try and enjoy the watch and forget about the rest of the issues you mentioned!! Thinking how much you could have saved etc will only ruin your joy!!

When the time comes to acquire my Perpetual, I already know I'm paying MSRP at the trusted local AD.

Sure, I can drive 110 miles and save 10%-30%, but it would be a Z, a D, maybe even an F-dated production model. Who knows how many times it's been yanked in and out of the display case. Has it gone home and been returned. That's the difference between NIB and new, old inventory.

Great watch. Time for fun!

hi again in asia the black dial commands higher price/premium than the white
by about 800 usd.in USA i think white dial is preferred but no addl premium.dont worry about the color.the most impt is that you like white thats why you selected it.

Congratulations..

Great watch......there are no discounts on a Daytona around here either.. If you pass on one, there will be somebody else in a short time who will take it...

Congrats & Enjoy! Don't believe the claims of AD discounts on SS Daytonas.

New SS Daytonas are still hard to get and are NOT being discounted by ADs.

If you hear a claim of a discount, there are a couple of possibilities.

1) The watch is pre-owned.

2) It a GM selling it and not an AD

3) It's a fake.

4) Someone is lying.

You've got a grail watch at MSRP and you even got the ultimate black dial version! ENJOY! Prices will only go up.

Congrats. You got it for a good price. I bought mine when the premium was $10500. Enjoy it for many years to come.

Once you buy "anything", you made a decision at that time, that you got it at "your price". You were happy at that moment.
After that, if it goes on sale, you can't worry about it.
