A final word on scarcity...?
Sorry for beating the proverbial dead horse but I must ask: Is there a final word on why are the dealers’ Rolex shelves mostly empty nowadays...? Thank you for your answers.

My AD told me that Rolex will stop all SS production by the end of 2019, and that all pieces will be TT or PM by mid 2021.

Extreme demand. That is all. People buy when they get the opportunity just because it’s available and not because they actually want the watch! Crazy times!

Sales are up, shelves are empty.
I think the production of some models (we don't know which ones yet) is changing over to the new movements or other changes that will be released/announced at Basel. So there's less in the pipeline right now. Plus, Christmas.

My AD said most SS are being sent to china and are being handed out to CCP officials.
There is also a stockpile on an island, in the Pacific. |

When the Chinese bubble bursts, you'll be able to buy them at 1/2 price. Any day now.

Supply & Demand.
Think about the annual “must have” Christmas present. They usually fly off the shelves, and are very difficult to find. You might be able to find some on eBay, or the classifieds, for a premium price. Similarly, Rolex watches are available, at a premium, via grey market dealers. Historically, Rolex has also experienced similar holiday shortages, and the demand went up before Christmas/Chanukah/Kwanza/Festivus. Now that the global economy had dramatically improved over the last two years, and the year round demand for Rolex watches had also increased dramatically. This too shall pass, after the economy begins to cool. The demand will decrease, and the supply will magically increase. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Supply and demand.
Demand is at an all time high. Supply is unchanged. Rolex isn't a reactionary company. They don't need to make more. If they did it would dilute the brand.

I am not sure but I’m fairly certain that if there is a final word this thread will reveal it.

I think some of the problem is created by the AD. My experience is not about buying a watch which I have already tried but for a bezel insert for my 16710. I asked the dealer to get me a Pepsi insert as mine is a coke. He said if he sent it to RSC they would only fit what was originally supplied with the watch, and if that was coke that’s what I’d get.
I phoned RSC with the same request and they said send it in which I did and voila job done £55 all in. The moral of this story is try not to use the AD’s if at all possible. |

I get it that people have questions, but I heard this and I heard that is just hear-say or better yet fake news. Rolex has always kept things close to the heart NOBODY knows what is happening but them and probably only the lucky few that sit around the big table. People that keep making these posts only make themselves look silly
