I currently have way too many in rotation to give them all proper wear for significant fades!

It's great to see other selvedge denim heads on the forum.

Some of my favorite brands:

Railcar Fine Goods
Rogue Territory
Freenote Cloth
Pure Blue Japan
RRL
House of One Culture
Stevenson Overall Co.

600 quid, for a pair of jeans?

Did you know that the word, gullible, isn't in the OED?

I have a few Pure Blue Japan and Momotaro. The jury is still out for me. I’ve purchased online since I don’t have the advantage of a local store to try / get advice from a denimhead...I just can’t seem to get a great fit. Further, I can’t wear the same pair of jeans 24x7 to get those insane fades...it would take me a decade!

I keep going back to Levi’s due to wearability. I know the quality has gone downhill in recent years.

I do like Selvedge denim jackets though. They seem much more forgiving and wearable.

I've just bought Levis Vintage 501XX (1947) selvedge made in the US. Cone Mill. Great jeans and a change from the skinny's that's been fashion forever!!

While I agree with this, it’s ironic on a forum dedicated to watches that cost more than the total wealth of 70% of the world’s population.

I get your point but his follow-up comment is relevant.

If you have a collection of SS Professional Rolex, you can probably get your money back on them and the cost of ownership before servicing is effectively zero - I could easily sell mine tomorrow for a small net profit - so essentially the watches are cash in mechanical, steel form. This leads to another irony - the $600 jeans will lose you more money than a $10k watch.

I will add for clarity that I have no issue with people spending money they can afford on stuff they like, whatever it is.

Have a pair custom made for you. There are a few places in Manhattan and Brooklyn that are great. Try Selfedge. You can also get a pair made at the Levi’s store. Cost is between $600-$800 and they will literally make whatever you want.

I’ve actually spent more than that to repair my fav PRPS jeans. New pockets, rewoven crotch, chain stitch hem and various holes patched. As for resale, I would never.

I agree with this. In fact I think that people should buy more nicely made things that last, and less cheap stuff that hits the landfill in three years. Also, the fact that I could probably get out of my Rolex collection without loosing too much money helps me rationalize spending idiotic amounts of money on them too. On the other hand, these enormously expensive jeans cost less than the sales tax many of us pay on our watch purchases, therin lies the irony to me.

For what it’s worth I love wearing jeans, practically every day. I usually spend $20-50 on them at Winners though. I spend a Rolexian fortune on most of my suits though.
