Rolex date-just date not changing

My brother bought this watch a number of years ago and is having some issues. I thought it would be a good idea to get everyone's opinions on it. It was serviced in 2013, but the date cannot be changed by itself. It only changes when you move the hour and minute hands to change the time. So, in other words, if it's not worn for a few days and stops, the watch has to go through several days until the date is correct.

Any ideas on what the issue is?

Try winding it and wearing it daily.. if the issue still persists then it needs service
