Value of the 116520.

The prices of some NOS 116520s seems to be very close as the 116500s.

Why is that? Do you think one day these 116520s are gonna be worth more than the ceramic ones?

Thanks.

Yes the NOS will surpass them and the cream 116520 have already surpassed them going for 20-30k depending on condition and papers

Have to agree speaking for myself not a fan of either, even if they were half the price.

That’s great to hear! One less person pushing the prices up.

There were a lot more 116520’s sold than the previous 5 digit and handwinds before them. I can’t see their value ever reaching the stratosphere of the earlier models.

I think it's less a matter of the 116520s increasing as it is the price of the 116500 decreasing closer to MSRP.

However, a real NOS classic will always demand a premium.

Now if Rolex ever did a homage to my IMHO better looking 6263 over the modern day one then I might be more interested in today's Daytona but without the ceramic bezel, prefer the easy to change if ever needed aluminium one.

I don't expect that they will exceed the value of the ceramic ones, but the increasing ceramic prices have certainly pulled the 116520 up along with it. My guess long term would be that they settle just a little bit below whatever benchmark the ceramic models set.

Interesting related observation: ceramic prices for the white dial maintain a ~2-3k premium over black dial ceramics, whereas for the 116520 there is a smaller (1-2k) but still visibly apparent premium on the black dial watches.

Yep, I had both dials of the 116520 and the black one was more in demand.

That is true. So that is probably one of the reasons why the 16520s are fetching such a premium.

I was shock to see some of these NOS asking over $20k for it. Wow

I think is just because they are discontinued. Same happens albeit to a lesser degree with the 5 digit Pepsi.
