Chance to buy the 15202ST "Jumbo" tmrw

So, I put my name on the list in London for the Royal Oak Jumbo (15202) several months ago thinking it would be years until one would become available having done some research.

I got the call today that the boutique has one and I can get it tomorrow.

Will be going to see it, try it on, etc. as I've never had the chance to do so as they are not readily available anywhere.

Hadn't expected it to come so soon and thus would have to juggle around some things to make it possible to buy.

But my questions....

1- is it common to get the piece available so soon, i.e. am I lucky or if I say no would it be possible to get one again when my circumstances are better?

2- Do they hold their value well if I decide to sell?

Thanks all

With my single experience with an AP boutique, it seems they like to over deliver! Was told 12-18 months for my blue 15400 and got it in just over 2 months.

In terms of value, the jumbo will always be in demand and a sought after piece so I know you're in the clear if you ever change your mind on it. Congratulations on a beauty!

Grab it and figure out if you love it or now while you own it. Can always sell or trade it in on something else if it doesn't end up speaking to you. Safe purchase, about as safe as it gets.

AP has no inventory issues.
Not surprised to have it quickly.
Beautiful piece. Go for it!

Try it on , don't buy if you like it unless your ok reselling, but if you do and they find out you might not get in demand pieces as early as you did this time. I personally tried it on and passed. Gold version on the other hand is a different story.

In UK that is still fast, go in with a view to wanting it, but don't force it just because it came in early.

Take it. many regret taking too long. A 15202 will go in seconds if you dont want it (as soon as you say no, it will sell in the same day). I would thank the salesperson for getting you an allocation early. The watch sells at a high premium but the watch like a 5711, when you get it you dont want to get rid of it regardless of price.

You can sell at a premium tomorrow, but you won't as it is a great watch.

Selling it is one of my biggest regrets (when it comes to watches)

This is a no brainer, definitely purchase the watch. It's a win win situation whether you keep it or not. Thank the SA for giving you a call!

Great fitting watch.

The date setting is a PIA and the bezel can be difficult to protect.

Truthfully I would grab it and trade it for a 5711.

Though it is a cool movement with a clever way to adjust the date,
I owned one, the crown was too small for my fingers to manipulate in that rocking motion without pushing it closed every few turns.

In my experience and others I know that own it, it is a PIA to set.

I can confirm every aspect of this experience. However, if you own the 15202 you never need another AP unless it's a different 15202.

Agree. Wish AP can improve the movement to add a quick-set date.

That said, everything else about this watch is perfection.

To the OP : No need to hesitate. Buy it.

I don't want to come out as offensive but I have doubt that OP's post is really true. If its true, congrats!

I have contacts with with AP boutiques and the 15202st is not easy to get even with purchase history. I would like to be proven wrong :).

Please keep everyone posted.

I don't think so.

1-1.5 years ago, my AD had one in stock when I went randomly. He showed it to me but he wouldn't sell to someone he doesn't know. I didn't take it at that time, but they had also, black ceramic offshore, some other blue dials, etc.

It may have change in this short timeframe, but still - I think it's not as hard to get as they tend to say.

Boutiques do get them. I was offered one before, but had to decline as I was reevaluating my interest in watches.

I recommend to go for it if you need a versatile watch. It's the perfect size. For example, the ROO 44 indented my skin and I always feel it's on.

Put a deposit down today, will collect next week as I was unable to make it today.

Currently have a Batman and the 11650LN Daytona in White and cannot justify having all 3.... so have decided the Batman will take the hit in this case.

Will always be the option to get it down the line I guess.
