GMT IIc, EXP II and AP ROO wrist shot comparisons...here
This series of shots was requested by one or two forum members after my most recent purchase of the AP ROO Rubberclad.
Photography is an Art/Skill I have spent zero time researching and practicing as you can see but hope these simple shots give some indication into a comparison. IMO the AP ROO is a watch that looks better in the flesh; both from a watch stand point and wear-ability as these pictures don’t really show how the watch looks like with the rest of a body attached …..I will throw a recent one in with my son but still hard to appreciate. Anyway, hope you like what you see and happy Chinese New Year to all. |

ROO is a weird shape... the rubberclad actually looks smaller in person because the dark bezel... also the black rubberclad looks even smaller.
some other comparison shots of other ROO's... they all look different sizes in person and pics but are all the same. http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...008v1/Pam7.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...008v1/Pam8.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...eaDweller2.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...8v1/group5.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...7/ROOday14.jpg http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...7/IMG_0015.jpg i would say to directly compare.. the ROO wears around what a 45mm watch would, a RO wears around what 42mm would, rolex 40mm would remain wearing around 40mm since its easy to measure.. and oversized ROO would wear around 50mm (SHAQ/T3) |

I dunno...being not a huge fan of the exp II I was kinda intrigued about the comparison to overcome my general rolex bias...but, I think the AP looks a little gimmicky, like generic seikobots from the 90's. Could be the rubber straps...don't like those at all, nor do I like NATOs on Rolex, but for whatever reason I just can't get into the AP.

No worries John, As I mentioned and think Riley also verified; the photo's give a very different look to the watch in person (I'm not too impressed with the ROO pictures either). All I can say is go try one on and then see how you feel about ROO, I can guarantee it will be different but cant guarantee you will become a FAN |

Please don't be offended, but that Roo thing looks hideous and cheap. (I'm sure it's probably not cheap, but it looks that way). To each his own...just my opinion.
Both of your Rolexes look great!

as far as which dial combo i liked best.... i really like the white themes and the scuba models.... the white themes is very versatile (hornback/rubber/leather) and has lume for night visibility.... and the scuba models are thinner with the same wrist presence and look great on rubber but are even better on a custom stitched croco(shown below) |

btw white themes has same dial as your watch, just metal bezel which i find blends in more.. can be worn on croco's and still looks good on rubber too.

from this design they developed the "sporty" and "rugged" Royal Oak OFFSHORE designs... which are larger and in your face.. notice my other links above, they have steel bezel models on hornback croco straps and leather straps... a totally different look.. but if you think his was wild.. check out this hideous beast: hahaha :-D |

patek versus audemars, personally i still side with audemars... i have had some great pieces from both brands and the pateks always get boring after a short time, whilst the audemars always demand wrist presence..... i will say some pateks are great pieces tho 5110/5712/5102/5960/5070, the rest i think are simple... i had a 5167 and hated it... i would say if you are a sportier guy go audemars, dressier guy go patek.

No worries Riley, I and I'm sure others appreciated your responses and insights. Putting any watch other than Rolex on a Rolex forum should be expected to get some flak and everyone has a right to an opinion. Keep them coming folks |

Its a solid question Lach,
The ROO was purchased to serve a very different purpose to both the GMT IIC and EXP II, as I wanted a much sportier looking rubber strapped model and have loved the ROO "BIG" look for a while. The GMT IIc and EXP II share time from Mon-Thu with office attire with the GMT IIc currently ahead on wrist time. The ROO is my latest so am loving every moment of wear right now but a favourite between all 3..............ah...........probably the GMT IIc |
