Last time Toyota made a Supra was 2002. This statement will still be true once this other car is released.

I think it's a sweet ride and can't wait to see one in real life.

I won't be lining up to buy one but think it's cold be a cool car for collectors. Most of these will likely be heavily modified by tuners. Getting a stock one depreciated would be the best route.

I am interested in hearing from people who are considering it why they would choose this car over let's say a Corvette Stingray.
Both base models can be had for almost the exact same price brand new. Corvette MSRP is $55k with MASSIVE discounts whereas the Supra is a little over $50k with probably little to no discount. The Stingray weighs less (3,298 lbs vs 3,397 lbs) The Supra is only available in automatic whereas the Stingray is available in both With the Supra you get a 3.0L inline 6 making 335 hp and 365 lb-ft torque vs the Stingray which has a 6.2L V8 making 460 hp and 465 lb-ft torque The Supra 0-60 is 4.1 secs vs 3.7 secs for the Stingray Supra top speed is 155 mph vs 185 mph for Stingray I haven't seen MPG details for the Supra yet but with the Stingray has an impressive EPS and shuts off half of the cylinders when not needed to save fuel consumption. The Supra has 2 driving modes whereas the Stingray has 5 As far as looks I would give the Stingray a 9.5 out of 10 and the Supra about a 6. One has styling usually only seen on 6 figure exotic cars like the Ferrari whereas the other looks like a 10 year old Mazda RX8. What am I missing here? |

NO MT, no buy.
Ever again. Got talked into trying a '15 PDK TT 911. Yuk. Cost me a lot of money to learn that lesson. It has, however, been great not pining for a new NSX or any modern Ferrari or Lambo, etc. |

As Brietling said its predominantly BMW parts and drive train, i mean so why was it even built. It looks silly, is too small, and isn't getting very positive press from design critics or drivers. Sounds like a complete dud to me.

No manual, 335hp in 2019?, lots of nonfunctional design elements, quirky and odd design that has been teased and leaked for the last ten years....no. This car is lame. To be honest I'd rather get a BRZ or just settle on a Z4 M-Sport or whatever BMW they decide to do.
An easy hard pass. Imo, this car was doa. |

I’d take the Vette any day over the Supra and I run a Toyota store. The Supra will be out this summer. MSRP is about $55k. I’m guessing from past experience, we will sell the first few at MSRP and then they will be more of a commodity car and they will be discounted. Saw it happen just like that when the 2007 FJ Cruiser came out. BMW powertrain...not true Toyota bit it’ll be a solid motor and performer.

toyota dont always commit fully to sports cars, they go in with other manufacturers, the gt 86 is a subaru engined car, this supra is a bmw engine and gearbox,
it will probably be a good car, possibly great. Toyota have so many great models, along with lexus, these partnerships make sense for the sports model, they get to focus on their core business but still keep a model in the sports division. i like it. |

You’re missing one thing ! The Supra has a BMW engine, so post warranty, it will become a rollback queen !

I'm interested to see one in person. I'm definitely tempted to buy one (maybe its the nostalgic effect).

It’s a BMW Z4. Both cars share platforms including engine. Only difference is sheet metal, interior and tuning.

Welcome to Europe, where you'll pay twice the price because of ridiculous taxes...
