People including AD's will come up with all sorts of made up numbers, none of which will be less than many, many years.
But the truth is you won't even be able to get on "the list" let alone purchase one, unless you are a good negotiator and can bundle it with a PM piece or you start spending lots of money at an AD on watches and/or jewellery and even then you'll be waiting a while and there's no guarantee.

I've bought a dozen watches over 8 years from my AD and have been waiting for almost two years for mine, so far. Fact is there are plenty of people that asked before me.
By the way, in 2015 I got a daytona after waiting a week. Go figure. |

To be brutally honest, if you are looking to buy from an AD and you have no purchase history with them there will always be someone ahead of you 'on the list'. Sorry.

I’d select an AD that is close to you and make a habit of visiting on a regular basis. Get to know them, and more importantly, let them get to know you.
This approach has worked well for me. Once they get to know you’re serious about owning and wearing the brand for the love of it, they just might surprise you. Otherwise, if you have the urge to own immediately, you won’t have a lot of choice other than to pay secondary market prices. |

I would be surprised if they allow you to wait for a Daytona with no prior purchase history. If they do take your name, the watch will likely never arrive. Just my $.02

As you are in Shropshire (near to me) you will be looking at John Pass (Newcastle/Crewe) - honestly, you'll be waiting 8-10+ years with those guys plus they really prioritise their wealthy customers. I'm not a fan actually.
CH Moody are brilliant and they will accommodate you if you buy anything before but might not even make it onto a list. As you are local, you may see it in 4-6 years. Chester is rammed with wealthy customers so that's a no go. Lichfield is your next best after CHMoody. Honestly, unless you buy a couple of pieces, ideally PM, you won't see a SS daytona from anyone in the midlands before 4 years and thats being very lucky. |

I was recently at Rolex 5th ave boutique and asked similar questions. They said they get about 200 / year but have 600+ people on a waiting list and the wait time is in the multiple years. I asked is they were serious about the 200 figure as I heard some AD's only get 4-6 a year if that and he said yes but of all types.
White was by far the most popular choice and so the wait times quoted by people are usually for the white with the longest lists. I had no reason to not believe him of course take with grain of salt ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ |

I thought the OP wanted to buy a watch, not marry the ADs first born.

By the time you have bought adequate watches and jewelry to establish even a sniff at getting on the list it's probably cheaper and certainly far less hassle to buy grey/trusted seller route plus, how much is your time worth? Of course this is if you have to have that watch - luckily non of the ones I want or like are that sought after! (Hulk excepted). Good luck

There's no reason to really expect you'd ever receive a Daytona with no purchase history. Maybe if you sleep with the salesman.

Sad but true. Definitely seems like an "unobtanium" in most cases, unless you're a heavy hitter or get really lucky.

Impossible ... The Boutique does not get 200 Daytonas a year. More like 20 a year if even that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
