Rolex 168000

I recently bought a Rolex 168000. There is some mystery regarding 3rd 0's being stamped onto 16800's. I was told by someone that mine was not a true 168000 as the serial number was 9.65mil and not an R serial. Does anyone profess to be an expert in this field that may be able to shed some light?
