I've owned most Rolex models, I did a first today....

Out of the blue my AD called to ask me if I wanted a white dial SS Daytona. Now keep in mind this is also my Panerai AD so they know me rather...erm...at least my wallet....very well.

Well, at first I had no intention of taking it, then starting thinking and decided that not only did I want it, I am having her engrave the back. Not with my name, but that of my five year old son, Dylan Kawika.

I plan to wear it in the regular rotation but one day down the road I will give it to my son when I feel like the time is right.

Never considered myself a Daytona guy, but as of next week I guess I am now.

Just wanted to share this little story with you guys. I'll post pics next week when it lands.

Best,

D

Funny you say that. I've always considered myself a chrono guy, but I think the hype turned me off till recently. And after I paid for the watch today I had a lesson and low and behold my student was wearing a white dial Daytona (yes, he hit golf balls for the entire hour wearing it, LOL!!!) and all I could think was.....DAMN, why did I wait so long.

I've turned down no less than 4 at list from my various AD's, today I pulled the trigger and am very excited. To be honest, not much about watches excite me anymore, this one is.

That's a great idea. I plan on giving my son my watches one day, too.

I have a SS DJ that was gifted to me by my old boss when I landed my own golf course, it has my name and the years I worked for him as an Assistant Professional. I planned on giving him that one too. What I am worried about is when my daughter gets older if I have to support her "handbag" habit if it is like my wife's.

Thanks bro, appreciate it.

If you mean the SD, that was for the cash, the other one was a duplicate that I was just moving out.

Congrats on the joining the Daytona club.

Your son will be a very lucky young man one day.

All I got when I became a young man 20 years ago was a swift kick in the ass.

I made the comment tonight to my wife that maybe when he graduated college or even when he gets married. The little SA told me he would get married tomorrow if he could own a Rolex. I was LOL!

Not about it being a Rolex, though it is a beautiful watch. But more about it being something that I will enjoy and then share with my main man.

Thanks Paul and Dennis. I have actually owned some version of every sports model from Rolex, except the Daytona so this should be cool.

You've always been the best guy I've known, Daren. Congrats on the Daytona - your wife and kids are so lucky to have your support and shoulder to lean on.

Now........would you like to adopt me!!??

Too kind my old friend. Damn, we've known each other since before my kids were born huh? And you are really old too, so you really are my old friend. LOL!

Thanks JJ, you really are too kind and I've told you, I always have an extra room for a crazy Kiwi loon.
