I know the parameters of the Rolex Superlative Chrono is -2 - +2. My new Submariner is .58 of a second behind per day. Now, I am thrilled and I know it's awesome for any watch, but my question is, is this above-average awesomeness for a new Rolex watch, or just about average awesomeness?

(I measured this over 96 hours manually, checking against 'time.is'.)

Yes, this is absolutely outstanding timekeeping. Don't get me wrong, I think you would in general be hard pressed to find a perfectly serviced Rolex doing anything worse than +/- 5, so they are all fantastic but .58 is great. My 1979 datejust is only losing about half a second per day as well after being served in 2017. Truly amazing

Check that... I rested it face-down last night and I don't know if the power reserve is running low, but it picked up about 3/4 of a second and is now (after close to 5 days) running 1.25 secs behind... so that's about .25 loss per day. Insane.

Gaining 3/4 sec overnight is puzzling though. I'm no expert, but I've heard that when the reserve is low, the watch will actually run faster. Don't know if it's that (didn't wear it much at all the day before) or if resting dial down is the reason.

It’s very good but there’re are even better out their. My CHNR will do +1 second a month.
All my new Rolex models will do better than +2 /-2 a day.

That is excellent results!!

Give your watch some time and get to know it’s variances. It is my understanding that +-2 seconds is based on multiple positional tests. For example some complain that their watch losses 5 seconds a day on the wrist. But at night when the watch is laying with the dial up, it gains 3.5 seconds. Combined, that watch is well within Rolex standards.

Personally, I hardly pay attention anymore. When I used to, I knew how to self regulate based on position of the watch on the dresser.

First the wording Superlative Chronometer has been on Rolex dials for 40 years way before this new spec.And IMHO many of you guys have far to much time on your hands.But I will join the brag factor last time I checked my 5513 was April 1st 1989, just checked it now and its .099999999987 of a second fast in almost 30 years beat that one.

When power reserve runs low does the movement speed up? My watch was also stored after a full days rest, dial down. Thoughts?

I've had similar luck with the 4 new models I've picked up in the last year - they are all running between +1/-1 a day when I time them out for a few weeks. Pretty amazing actually.

30 years with Rolex. I can certainly see Rolex is making a great effort with their new standards of accuracy.

I have a timegrapher and I almost never check my personal watches. I imagine I am right around 1 second per day on a recently serviced 16570. I have had many watches at near 0 seconds a month. For me, a min a month or so is fine. It will take me 3-4 months to even notice.
