Datejust II smooth bezel - I think I am crazy

I had a major emergency operation, survived and doing great. So to commemorate that I bought my first Rolex. I went to a few AD and this Datejust was calling my name, I can’t explain it but it was just talking to me.

But really I wanted the fluted bezel, I just had to get this watch thinking I would add the bezel later and for a year looking and finding one and not pulling the trigger.

Now I am digging this bezel, I feel I can wear shorts (and have with a tank top) and also dressed up, of course. I know the fluted bezel adds value and great looks but the non is awesome too. I am going nuts over this, maybe I need mental help.

Glad to hear the surgery went well and you made a great choice. Bezel and Oyster go well together and that dial!

I prefer the smooth bezel too. Who cares what we think though, if you love it, it’s right.

Beautiful watch. I have the same. The azzurro dial is unmatched. Was this brand new or pre-owned? My brother loves mine and is looking for a new one.

I will have to admit it was pre-owned, still had some clear stickers on it. Really used or new it didn't matter, all I wanted was the blue dial and SS. Nobody had what I was looking for at the time and this AD kept lowering the price cause they knew I was a buyer (I guess). Also this one was calling my name. This is a DJII 41mm.

Smooth bezel for me. That blue color shade is stunning.

I just got out of the hospital too and to celebrate I bought a blue OP.

Best.

A great way to celebrate you are alive and kicking! If you like it, keep it and treasure it and remember why you bought it in the first place. You may lose that vibe if you sell or swap it.

Thanks for sharing your post.

I think the Romans dress it up, while the smooth bezel dresses it down - works out about perfectly. Congrats

Congrats

I also like the smooth better. I actually thought I loved the fluted had a DJ II for 7 months and sold it. If I would buy a DJ again it would definitely be the smooth bezel.

That model is a classic. Is that a DJ2 or DJ41? Do they make that model as a DJ41?
My DJ2 has a fluted bezel, but the smooth bezel gives it a less formal, sportier look.
Congrats on your medical success! Enjoy life and let it rip!
