AP Newbie

I’m an AP virgin, pardon the analogy.
Well versed in Rolex and Omega but wanting to branch out but the high price point has always held me back.

Looking into preowned and know DavidSW to be among the best.
I’ve been very interested in the RO Diver, don’t need the complexity of a chronograph.

https://davidsw.com/watches/audemars...th-white-dial/

What do y’all think about this piece and the price? Does it seem Fair? I know for Rolex and other, David’s prices are slightly higher but you get quality and security.

I know the color is discontinued, are the new models (I like the blue one) hard to get from an AD?

Thanks!

This answers your primary question. While he’s not the only one, he and many of the Trusted Sellers here will give you a fantastic watch quickly and painlessly.

If it were me, I would buy one of his black 15703s instead. Has the original dial (as opposed to the new stamped dial), has all the depreciation baked in and black is generally more popular on resale than white. One of my first and still one of my favorites.

Diver is a great watch - I wear mine everyday as my only watch.

The blue colour is a bit flatter in person compared to the RO line. Black and White are both good, but the black dial fits better with the overall watch for me.

I’ve never bought from a trusted seller, only AD, so can’t offer input there.

Re the above comment - the turned dials from AP are awesome and such a great piece of historical manufacturing. But you do lose the display caseback on the 15703 vs. 15710.

I get as much enjoyment from that side as the dial, but either option is a splendid choice.

What else do you have/owned? I went with the Diver as my second AP and for me it was just too large, sold it a few month after getting it. I think starting with a 15400 is the best way to get introduced to the AP line.

why? My first AP was the Navy ROO, and since then I've added 3 more ROOs LOL! I've never had any interest in owning the 15400.

OP buy what you like, and if you can go to a boutique and try a few pieces to see what you like best. Good Luck!

He said he is coming from Rolex and omega so for the the size of the ROO would be a jump and the reason why I gave the suggestion to start with the 15400. I am the complete opposite, started with the 15400RO then added the diver and hated it. Then added the RO chrono. For me I have zero interest in the ROO line because of the size of it. Again this is all my opinion and didn't say he had to do it just my 2cents.

Thanks for tje advice guys!
It’ll be my first AP and hopefully not my last.
I actually prefer the white, and love the look of the caseback.
Good tip I’ll go to the local boutique to try one, if they even have one!
Will see if can get David’s for a good price.

Very unlikely you will find one to try on in person.

I started off with the white diver as my first AP. If I were to do it once again, I would go for the royal oak with the steel bracelet for sure to start.

I guess the diver is more discrete hence I went with that as opposed to the 15400 back then.

Can't go wrong with a AP Diver as a first piece. You may also want to consider a pre-own 15400 Royal Oak.
