Sub no date waiting list
Hi all, has anyone put their name down in a waiting list for a watch but after Baselworld, you decided that you wanted a different watch or an updated version so you put yourself down in another list? Did you have to wait long for the watch you wanted?
Recently, I decided to get myself a Sub No Date especially as I'm approaching my big 50 and I thought it would be nice to pass it on to my son eventually so I got myself on the waiting list at my local AD (was told it would be "a few months wait"). But with Baselworld just around the corner, if a new Sub is announced, do I go for the new one (with a possibility that the wait is longer) or do I stick with the original plan? |

if you have to deal with the WL, you have the potential to look flaky if you are switching the watch you are waiting for or you look like a flipper. In this market its best to pick the watch and stay the course. You dont do yourself any favors by being indecisive.

even if a new sub comes out you will be waiting a very long time indeed....If you stick to your game plan you should not have to wait more then three months...

I put my name down on a waiting list for a non-date Sub 10 days ago, the AD mentioned that its going to be June at the earliest I could get my hands on the SUB, however got a call 2 days ago that the Sub is now available and I picked it up yesterday. I did have a bit of a dilemma considering how close we are to Basel and if they do update the movement and reduce the lugs that would probably be a better buy. However eventually both those things don't matter too much, I actually prefer the thicker lugs and regarding the movement this isn't like an iPhone where best tech is superior and it would barely make any difference day to day so I went for it :D

The current Submariner is an amazing workhorse of a watch. Just get it and move on.

I just enroll on the waiting list for sub date. Sales person said it should took 3-4 months to get the sub. So that means (if of course Rolex decides to update 3135 caliber) i will get updated version or "older one"?

Sub no date waiting list

Stick with original plan. 1 year ago, I picked up a new Sub right before Baselworld. Glad I did. Plus, if they do release a new Sub, it’s doubtful it will be the no date variant. Also, you won’t easily get one anyway if they do. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks folks. It's a difficult decision because you dont want to miss out either way.
Whilst on the subject, has anyone bought what was supposed to be their first and last Rolex, but ended up buying more than one? What is it about Rolex watches that make them so tempting and addictive? |

I would be inclined to pick up the current SubC if you get offered it. No one really knows how things might pan out after Baselworld...more than likely if a new Sub comes out, things will get even more hyper!

How quickly do ADs open up the waiting list after they announce a new model in Basel? If you make your way to an AD soon after the announcement, would you not be one of the 'first' on the list and possibly wait months rather than years? Apologies, these might sounds like naive questions but I'm quite new to the world of Rolex....

I agreed as most members here, stick to your original plans and enjoy it. I was in the same dilemma to wait until baselworld and passed the offer on a Sub-non-date. I was on the waiting list since December 2018, and 3 weeks ago I received a call from another AD and pulled the trigger on a Sub date. No regrets.
What I've learned from this, if you put your name on a waitlist from an AD located in a shopping center, it's going to be hard to get that call. Some times you have to check on other cities or small town, that's what I did and it worked or just got lucky. |
