Explorer 2 Polar

AD just called me about an explorer 2 coming in and it's mine if I want it. Currently have SubC and TT Rootbeer. I have not seen an explorer 2 in person yet, this will be the first time seeing one.

What are your thoughts on adding that for a trio? *Note: I know it is ultimately my decision.*

I think the Exp2 Polar is a great compliment to a sub.

I like them, I'd say go for it.

i like it a lot. I preferred the black dial on me though, the white didn't sing to me. I love it on other people though. Great watch

I think its the perfect three piece! Land, sea, and air! The exp2 is a great piece. I think you're going to be over the moon with it!

The EXP II was the kiss of death for my 114060 Sub.

I found I no longer cared about the Sub once acquiring an EXPII, so I sold it. I seemed to pass over the Sub for my Explorers I or even more so the II.

A year later the EXPII polar is still my favourite and I don't miss the Sub at all.

Does nothing for me, especially if I already owned a beautiful GMT.

You already have the superior GMT master. Why get something more utilitarian than your TT Rootbeer?

Devil's advocate

The 42mm Explorer 2 is probably my least favorite modern reference, and I'm not super fond of most of them.

how's the gmt master superior? The movement in the Explorer is superior to the gmt master if you really want to break it down.. The Explorer 2 has all the bells and whistles besides the rotating bezel which its doesn't need because its a adventurers watch.

Love it, especially the cartoonish orange hand

It's a bit large for me though.

Every aspect of the dial and handset is too "maxi" for me - not just the orange hand.

It is, however, probably a pretty nice option for guys who legitimately have a large wrist (though I frequently see them on decidedly not large wrists online).

The Explorer II is an awesome watch! I think it would be complementary to your current collection. It would be great for you to see the black and white dial models side by side to compare directly in-person. However, I totally understand your gravitation towards the white dial version since you already have two black dial watches in your collection.

Let us know what happens!

No argument here. The blacked-out hands and marker surrounds . . . .

Explorer II is a great choice, it wears a little large on a small wrist!

When you said an explorer 2 coming in" My understanding with couple AD I talked before, they don't know what Rolex send them. I always say if I don't love it, or do I really want it. I don't buy it, is that simple.

You will absolutely love the polar Explorer II. I strongly recommend it. It will fit perfectly in your collection. Don’t be surprised if it starts taking wrist time from its brothers though. It has a sneaky way of doing that.

I added the LN to my black Explorer II and quickly flipped it. They were too similar. If I had the polar in sure I’d still have the LN.

I absolutely love mine as a complement/contrast to my 116710LN. Both have GMT functions, but completely different watches

The 42mm Polar would slot in a treat. It's so clean, business like, legible, and unlike any other watch you can buy today. Whereas the GMTs and Sub Dates and 40mm YMs all kind of blend together in style and proportions, a 42mm Explorer stands out, but doesn't shout. I have one in my collection and in the next 2-3 years I hope to add a TT CHNR. Looks like you're done the hard part already!
