16710 new hands?

If I get an RSC service and have the lume fixed on the seconds hand I believe they would fit a new hand set (all four).

Would I be better off getting the dial replaced (Swiss Made) at the same time to avoid a tritium dial T<25 mismatch with the new hands?

My personal take is to stay tritium + tritium or luminova + luminova. Mismatched parts bother me.

If you want to keep it tritium, find an experienced watchmaker who you trust to stabilize or re-lume the hands. Or, bite the bullet on value/preference and send it to RSC for a luminova update. Fixing the seconds hand should be a minor job for someone experienced.

I've had both. Luminova is more practical. Tritium looks better with patina. Each have their benefits and drawbacks.

I asked for new hands on mine as there was no lume left. It wasn't chipped or flaking, but it didn't glow for more than a minute after charging it with a LED flashlight. The RSC (Dallas). They noticed scratches on the dial around the center post and recommended changing the dial too. I agreed, particularly so the lume of the new hands would match the lume of the new dial. Best decision I could have made.

This isn't about collectors' value. I bought this watch to wear it for the rest of my life.

Thanks looks good. Even with a brand new Rolex after charging the lumanova under a bright LED desk lamp the markers are barely visible to me after 30 or 40 minutes and not visible in the dark after an hour. I’m always surprised when people say they glow all night long. Do they charge them with special high powered lamps or something?

They're still visible in pitch black. I could always read my Sea-Dweller at depth. Even my Daytona is still glowing by morning, albeit faintly.

But, none of them glow at full brightness all night long short of something powered by tritium vials. Luminox would be one brand that does.
