Watch Winder Help!

Hey I would love it if some of you could give me your info on watch winders?
Because I have one but I don't know if its good to keep it on all day? will it overwind the watch since it will be roatating the rotor inside the watch all day? Do i turn it on for a couple hours and then off? also my watch winder has a switch that makes it spin in two different directions.. do i need to spin my watch in a certain direction? any help would be great. thanks all!

Most modern winders are cyclical, meaning that they will wind for a certain period of time and then stop for a certain period of time. Some are bi-directional, some uni-directional, and some are fully programmable. Regardless, if you are winding a Rolex, you cannot overwind it, particularly on a winder.

thanks for the info! it just seems like alot of stress on the watch to keep it on all day while at work lets say. it does not have a timer on it.. also does it matter what direction I spin it?

My winder is bi-directional. In my opinion, the direction doesn't matter. I have read some threads in which the argument is made that there is less mechanical stress on the watch if it is allowed to wind down during times you are not wearing it. I totally agree. Your Rolex (or any automatic, for that matter) sat in a display case for some time not running at all. However, I like to grab my watch and go. I find it annoying to have to take the time to set the date and time, and wind and go. I like a winder.
