15500 Grey or Black ?
I just received a call from my AD saying that I can choose between the Black or Grey dial for 15500ST. Given the choice, what would your pick be?
For me: Grey: Pros: The dial is more unique. The Tappisserie Pattern is more playful with the light Cons: The watch might seem more monochromatic as the dial melds in with the case Less contrast in some lighting conditions Black: Pros: Higher contrast Safer color option Cons: Too simple? I think it hides the dial design. The only other high-end watch I own is a speedy Pro, which is black dial too. I was initially going for the 15450 but upon trying I felt it was too small - I have a 6.8'' inch approx wrist. Overall, I feel the black is more sporty and the grey is more dressy - and i want to use the watch for both casual and dressy occasions. what would your option be? P.S this will be my wedding watch. Thanks |

Is there an AD where the trunk show may be stopping? That way you can try on both?

Personally, I would go the grey.
Its more unique, and like you say I feel its a little more dressy. I have a black rolex gmt so I think the two would pair nicely |

When I was looking to get mine I initially wanted black. But then realized there is no black for the 15450 so I decided on grey over white (without seeing it in person). I’m so glad I didn’t have the option to get black because after seeing the grey in person (and now owning it for ~8 months) I’m certain this is my favorite color. Might even prefer it over blue, though I haven’t seen that one in person yet.
So that’s my vote, you should get the grey one! I feel like it works amazing for any occasion. I’ve literally worn it every single day since I got it, couldn’t be happier with it! |

I didn’t love the ruthenium when I tried it on last year at an AD, but it was my wife’s favorite. It’s very unique and interesting, but I was bothered by the exact things you’ve mentioned as cons.

I love both colors but the black will serve for different outings compared to the grey.

I had a black, but would go grey since it’s more unique.

Congratulations in advance!
Tough call between the two, but I’d go for the grey |

Grey. You get the 'black' dial style that you want but with a bit more of a interesting dial. Sometimes a standard black dial is just too basic and the appeal wears off quicker..

It's tough but I'd pick the grey.
I have the same pros and cons as you for both. The lack of contrast with the grey from dial to the bracelet is the main one, but I think the uniqueness of the grey over the black puts it over the top. |

The grey looks different from the ruthenium on the AP website. Also , one boutique told me that the grey dials are produced in much lower numbers than the black. After giving it a lot of thought, I am going with the grey as I feel like I’ll have enough black dials in my collection sooner or later but the grey will be a one - off.

Both look great, the grey seems to demand more of a premium in the older 15400. I own the ack 15400 and in some light it looks grey, so best of both worlds. The black does change depending on the lighting. In any case you can't go wrong with either. Congrats on the wedding!

I prefer the ruthenium dial to the black dial -- more interesting overall, but prefer the blue dial to all.

I like the black because it pops more. The grey dial blends more in with the SS.

I think gray is the way to go... black is a bit boring and it switches up your color options when choosing a watch between the Speedmaster.

Saw both in the flesh. Grey maybe changes color more in different lighting but was too monochromatic for me. No contrast between the bracelet and dial. Decided to go for the black one as I was not able to get the blue one. That blue on tho

I was sold on grey, at least in my head, until I tried all 3 on. Black was the clear winner after some short wrist time at the boutique.
