Is discontinued GMT BNLR will lose value due to the new Jubilee BNLR?

Easy as state on the title, is the old Batman will losing their value when the new Jubilee bracelet BNLR hit the market?

Doubt it. Once a model is discontinued they normally go up on the resell market. Look at the recent discontinued all black GMT. Those are now selling for $11K+

To be honest they will both be the same price on grey market for a while

That makes sense, and I think it will eventually might rise up higher than Batman in the future. One thing to consider tho, LN all black that discontinued doesn't have another new LN all black on jubilee bracelet to compare neck to neck like BNLR.

Make sense. But LN all black doesn't have the new all black that coming out like BNLR does.

I think the new jubilee batman will be priced in the grey market at same price with pepsi or even higher.
The oyster batman will keep their value not too far below (if not the same price), as most people still prefer oyster bracelet.

Of course this is just my opinion, but I really doubt they will lose their value

I'd expect the new BLNR to his the numbers to pepsi was getting after release for a short period. I am hoping that the simplified GMT line will increase production and sort out the supply issues to an extent.

However, there's always the risk the greys will gobble them all up and artificially hold the prices high for longer.

the new Batman is actually pretty ugly - the Jubilee just doesn't fit that watch. That being said - crazy people crazy wants so now that a precedent was set with the 16-17K Pepsi the BLNR will be right up there.

In the Rolex second hand world, "discontinued" means prices go up.

166710 goes up! Best unworn, fully stickered ones! That`s easy for me - as i don`t like the maxi cases to wear!

Really depends on which Batman you are discussing. Some are Michael Keaton Batman fans. Others are Christian Bale loyalists. Both have long term appeal.

I think they will hover around the same price since the same basic watch is still available, albeit on a different bracelet.

NOW, if Rolex releases enough of the new one to put a dent in the previous orders of those wanting one..... Yes, prices will go down, discontinued bracelet or not. If that happens, I think the few unworn ones will still go up, but preowned watches will remain steady or drop a little.

Bet on stars, not on dogs! The 166710 will always be a great looking watch with an important history - can claim to be the first 2 tone ceramic Rolex! Collectors choice!

Also the BLNR was only out for about 6 years while the LN was out for more than double I believe. It was also not as “exclusive”. Many more have been released and are out there. The new GMT reference came out last year so I see a 10 year release period and given the state of the GMT line the new BLNR will likely be around the entire time.

I guess it’s like the SD 116600 compared to the SD 126600, new movement, with some physical differences.

Yes, Rolex love to tweak models - look at the explorer for example.

and this will continue to drive people to used Oyster BLNRs.

Depends what you mean by value? Are you looking to buy the old reference or are you looking to sell?

Maybe, maybe not.

Why do you ask?

Greys won't lower prices ever, not unless demand falls off a cliff.

Prices are up on the BLNR that was discontinued but will adjust downward at some point. There are a lot of the watches out there and at some point the bubble will either have the air let out of it or it will burst.

The oyster bracelet on the original is much more desirable, and is no longer being produced. Prices will continue to go one way...

If I had to guess, I'd guess the opposite. Jubilee doesn't look nice on BLNR and with opportunity to pick one on Oyster up people will go for that one if it costs the same. Hence the new will sell for less than the old.

Also with BLNR prices already at almost BLRO levels, I feel like if new BLNR will be even more than the old one, most people will just go for BLRO which actually looks nice on Jubilee. This will decrease prices of new BLNR to at most price of old BLNR.

It's not available anymore, so prices will go up as long as the market stays healthy. You can't buy any stainless Oyster GMT anymore.

What bubble? Let’s be honest here, Rolex ss models are under priced. There had been no price increase for over 6 or 7 years. The Daytona is under priced. It’s worth much more today realistically. The current grey market represents what people are willing to pay for these ss models. Compare them to what’s out there for AP and other brands. The Daytona should be a $16k watch at minimum. A subC no date for $7500? Way too cheap. It’s all done for a reason. There can’t be a bubble if prices are too low already. Get used to this it’s the new normal and Rolex likes it. Hence why prices have remained. Look at the used market. Look at TT models. Demand and price increases are spilling into rest of the line because people are clamoring for watches. Unless there is a huge recession, I don’t see any bubble or reductions in the near future.
