I'm not certain why they'd care unless you send it in for servicing under warranty. Otherwise it wouldn't matter. If you did send it in because dropping it damaged it then it really should be your responsibility.

I would not expect anybody to be able to match rose-gold, unless they used matching screw-bars for the fill.

But even then, why would Rolex care that you repaired your watch?

Or are you concerned with the warranty, which would be voided since they would take the watch apart for welding.

Don't beat yourself up. Things happen, and will continue to happen. Guaranteed, this will not be the last "character" mark on your watch.

If the ding is tiny and doesn't affect the functions, I'd leave it. But if you must, and the work is flawless, you may get away with it. Just don't have Rolex polish the watch.

I’m just concerned that if I go ahead with the repair say 5 years from now when it’s time for a service they send the watch back and tell me to shove off because ive altered it. I will sacrafice a bar or a screw for the repair if I need. It’s a fairly ugly dent on the lug and I’m overly ocd about uniform lugs so polishing it is out of the question (edited for grammar)

I am not so much concerned with the warranty. The watch was purchased second hand so I’m not sure I even have warranty benefits

Post pics when you can. More often than not, you literally can't even see these dents.

They would not consider the watch altered because of scratch or dent repairs, unless somebody really screws up.

It wouldn't be any different than any other refinishing activity.

God would know.

And so what? I don’t see anything wrong. Since no longer under warranty.

The better question (which was raised in another thread): are you bound to disclose the laser weld if and when you sell later? Can you still say unpolished?

I would have no problem disclosing a repair. But at this moment I have no motivation to sell the piece to anyone else nor any kids to pass to. Yet

I have no issue with repairs costs or otherwise. Hell I’d even sell the watch dented and invest an extra 6 in one that’s not dented but a repair seems the best option. I didn’t buy the watch to sell to anyone. I bought it to wear but would prefer no unsightly dents. No problems with wear scratches but this was abuse

Take pic from phone, send it to your email. When prompted, send the small or medium version. Open email, save pic on phone, then reupload. Should be good to go.

I don’t know if this helps but I once dropped a steel Panerai on a tile floor, and it dented and bent the lug. I panicked and took out the screw bar (screws not spring bars) and made a mess getting it out because the line between the lugs was no longer straight (think I used pliers ). I thought it was going to be an ordeal to repair. A good jeweler I knew in Connecticut fixed it very quickly, for free, and it was absolutely perfect. I later traded the watch to that same jeweler and they gave me a very good trade value so they were confident the repair was 100% legit or they probably wouldn’t have bought the watch.

My point is a good jeweler that’s experienced in refinishing cases should have no problem fixing this. If you want to know the jeweler dm me.

Nasty dent, I'd have it fixed as well without worrying about future service.
If done correctly, sacrificing a screw or link for the right colour, nobody can tell including Rolex

Taking it to my jeweler at crown collection in Denver today. Said he could get it sent off this week and repaired back to 100%. Just was worried rolex May never service the watch again when it’s due in a few years. Or if I needed to send it (and pay out of pocket) because the drop messed up some internals. I don’t know if it did. It’s still ticking but I haven’t checked it off it’s normal +1 sec a month I was more than proud of

If they tell you to shove off, you could have serviced by someone else. After all, if you're even considering getting the watch laser welded by a third party, what is a service by someone outside Rolex?

I'd repair it. A few good sources on this forum who've posted pictures of their work.

Also, plenty of incredible, non RSC Rolex watchmakers who'll gladly service it despite it being "altered."

Would Rolex turn away servicing the watch if it's been repaired? Seems strange if nobody has touched the internals or really of the "real" components

If Rolex can tell. You and anyone else would be able to tell = badly done job.

Otherwise, if done right, logically it will be invisible to the naked eye and, RSC staff aren’t metallurgists

Sorry to say, it is all over. Rolex has already identified this watch and is very disappointed with your abuse and attempts to cover up this gross negligence.

They have contracted my services to inform you and confiscate the timepiece from you. So please PM me for next steps...

Lol, dude get it fixed. Rolex will not know unless it is done wrong. If it is and they send you down the street so be it. There are many GREAT independents down the street... try not to be to hard on yourself this stuff happens. Green Pouch next time...

No they won't, having a third party repair something just voids the warranty.

Thanks for all the replies guys! I really don’t try and baby my watch by any means but dropping it is abuse in my book and bothers my brain. You’re absolutely right I need to tods it in a pouch before the gym and will in the future.
