Why TRF is #1......

TRF lets us all share a passion with people all over the world. Many of us know each other only by the written word and pics we share of our watches, family, cars, house, pets . Some of us have been lucky enough to meet another member in person. For the most part we all get along. Posts make us laugh and sometimes cry, learn, share, open our hearts, poke fun at one another, relax and just get away from a rough day sometimes..... and even try to get someone to "marry you" What I am trying to say is Thanks everyone for making TRF more of a Family. This pic shows what we should all be about. Thanks TRF. Thank You Buz for the nato strap, it looks great on my Sub. You are my friend, as is everyone else here

Before TRF I was a member of a well known watch forum (no name will be mention). In advance I am not bashing but rather expressing my opinion. To describe, one word "Impersonal".

Have not post there for 9 mths.

Thanks TRF!

You said it perfectly Jim, I've had TRFers send me things I was looking for and mentioned on this forum, FOR FREE, wouldn't even let me pay for the postage. I think JJ sums it up best in his signature:

Its the members that make TRF what it is today, plus help from the admin and mods, most who have been here since almost day one. Just a few short years ago late 2004 early 2005 we had just a few loyal members around then 35 total. Wow how we have grown over just a few years, so we as a forum must be very proud of what TRF has achieved today, the best Rolex and other watch forum on the net.

Well the forum regulates it self normally but sometimes we have to intervene.

Sorry, but this place is too nice.
It smacks of the global licking of everyone elses back side.
Everyone 'loving' one another and all the mutual back slapping really get on my nerves. Pass the sick bucket.
The minute anyone dares to bring any sort of dissent into any sort of discussion the mods decide to act God and lock the thread.
This place is too nice.
Hang on, i've said that already.

This truly is a great forum. Wouldn't it be great to do a huge TRF GTG? That would be so cool.

Thanks to all...

Martin, in light of your comments, I have several serious questions for you.

If you think this place is "too nice" why do you hang around here?

Would you prefer that TRF were more contentious and acrimonious?

Is that more reflective of your view of the world?

I'd be curious to hear your answers because I don't understand where you are coming from. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

I don't hang around here. I have normally 4-5 tabs open.
I don't want anything to be contentious, however i wouldn't peoples point of view to be stifled. My point is that I can tell if a topic is going to be locked within a few posts. I would simply like the mods to treat us like adults.
My view of the World cant be explained in a few sentances on an internet forum. Suffice it to say that this forum doesn't relect normal society. It's too nice.

Well, I have to disagree with you to some extent. Peoples' points of view are not stifled. There are a few rules that we try to follow: Don't make personal attacks against other members (that's just common courtesy); certain subects, such as guns, religion, and politics, are off limits because they invariably elicit knee jerk reactions and personal attacks.

So maybe what we are trying to do here is to portray society as we think (or would like) it should be. TRF is a place where people can come to relax and enjoy themselves. Enjoyment does not mean attacking other members. As members of society we need to respect other people and their positions. Sometimes, people forget that and we have to move in to put things back in perspective.

If you still don't like TRF as it is, you could always close that tab.
