Swing tag

how much of an issue would it be if the watch you’re buying is missing the swing tag with the serial and model reference number on it? Also does it look suspect when it’s missing? Thanks all

No issue. Many ADs don't give you that tag.

I recently bought a watch without it. It does not bother me. If you trust the seller and the watch looks good I wouldn’t worry about it. There are no reputable sellers who are selling fakes. If I was buying from a random person I would care a lot more about having everything.

Does not matter as long as you have the card.

I know that a lot of Grey Dealers do not give this hang tag with their watches. I have purchased three Rolex’s from a Grey Dealer in the north of England & although these watches were brand new with all the protective stickers intact & all the booklets & the Rolex hologram tag but all the watches came without the tag that you mentioned. But I saved thousands buying from Grey Dealers, also they all came with a valid warranty. So in answer to your question I do not worry about this tag

Wouldn’t worry about it. Won’t impact future value, and less that 1% of buyers will be put off by it.

No issue. Most of my watches do not have the tag and it has not impacted the value or my joy of ownership.

This. I have had MANY discussions on here lately about this. There is a very small group of collectors that MUST have every single thing the watch came with, the serial tag included. But it seems to be a small percentage (not sure if it is 1% but it is small). I own a couple of watches in my collection without the serial tag now and it does not bother me a bit.

If the watch is some super rare or unique reference it might add 5-10% to the value of it one day (but we are talking one of the true modern gems like a Flat 4 or 3186 Pepsi, and then of course lots of vintage references that are truly rare), if it is a standard model Hulk or BLNR or Daytona or whatever I'd guess it adds absolutely nothing. Go to a good sampling of trusted sellers websites right now and you will notice piles of perfect watches from the last 5 years that have everything but the serial tag. Many ADs do not give them out anyway.

It's basically a non issue, as everyone else has stated. Enjoy the watch!
