Funny experience and GMT II-C Question?
I went to my local AD to drop off my fathers 13+ year old Date Just that stopped running around 6 weeks ago. He never had it serviced.
Rolex wanted to replace the band...for around $2600, my father just wanted it serviced which was only $570. Watch was less than $2600 new?? When I picked it up it looked like new except for the band (which I knew they were not going to fix, just repolish). On the clasp they had taken out the rivet holding the two flat peices of the clasp with a brass/copper wire that looked like a simple staple???? I have enclosed a picture of it but it was take with my phone. WTF, where they telling me that the "hey replace the band cheapo or we will leave your watch looking rediculous!" I went back to the AD and he looked embarrassed!!!!! He imediately wrote up another work oprder and said it would be taken care of!!!! My concern is, do you think they just forgot to put the rivet back or just did not bother? Has the service department been laying off its responsible workers because of the economy and hired trainees?? Anyone have similar experiences???? Also GMT II-C question: While browsing the display case my AD tells me there is another price increase coming March1!!!! He does not know which models, but he tells me that times are so bad, his store is discounting even hard to find models They have ONE GMT II-C in one of their stores and will give 10% off MSRP of $7000. Is that a good price? Are you guys getting bigger discounts???? |

ADs were giving 10% off on the GMT II-C long before the "financial crisis".
