YG in 36 (a classic) and RG in 40 with the olive dial. I know there is a ton of love for the platinum, but I would want a fluted bezel on a DD.

YG for me.
YG is instantly recognisable (which can de a drawback too). Platinum tends to fly under the radar.

If I’m looking for a DD40 and/or a platinum piece....if buying a platinum piece, I’d choose Daytona, although the PT DD is beautiful! I like a fluted bezel on a DD, and go YG first for that model.

Platinum without a fluted bezel is a deal killer for me. YG would be my choice.

I just got the itch for a DD as well, started looking at WG but now settling on YG as well. It’s a classic! Will definitely be an addition to current collection, may even start with a 36 model to see what all the fuss is about.

Tough call. The YG is classic but the platinum is hard to resist. Oh ya, and then there’s the price difference

On the Daydates I prefer WG the best. Followed closely by RG. Since WG wasn't a choice, I'll say RG all the way!
I like platinum too but I just can't stand smooth bezels on DD's. I much prefer fluted |

My personal opinion is that anyone's first DD should be a YG DD period.
RG and Plat can come as a second piece. |

Does anyone think gold is too brittle and gets scratched up easy. But then again platinum get patina too.

1 Yellow with black dial, and 1 Platinum with ice blue stick dial. Both in 40mm. These two are amazing pieces, and the most comfortable modern rolexes that I have worn.

Are you sure the Platinum DD is available with olive green dial? Because as I understand all the dials are in some configuration with the ice blue color.
Myself would either go YG or WG strictly because the fluted bezel is beautiful and classic. |
