Wow the average weight of a white male in USA over 65 years old is 196.5 lbs with a BMI of 28.5..

65 here myself..

I happen to also be 65 years old 5ft 10 inches and tip the scale at 152 with 32 inch waist and a BMI of 20.1.. This puts me in a 2% category of the white male population of 65 year olds.. I work at it every day and it is a way of life for me to eat extremely healthy with heavy amounts of tough cardio almost daily..

my BMI is 25.1 which is technically overweight, but I look pretty good, and I think I'd look worse if I lost 5 pounds

at a BMI of 20 I'd look like a teenager because I'm 5'8"

There is fast growing body of evidence that small amount of extra weight is actually good for your health. Skinny is not best.

Like all simplistic formulae BMI is plain stupid.

You need to get with the American lifestyle. Stop off and get some donuts and ice cream on the way back from your ride.

I'm pretty sure Australian statistics would be the same.

I have devoted a lot of my life to training and competitive sport. And my weight and physique never really fluctuated much. Now in my 50's, a slack month can see me rise a couple of kilograms. More concerning though is that what used to take me a fortnight to shed now takes me 2 months.

BMI of 28 isn’t that bad. I thought it would be much higher as I see many people around me w much higher BMI’s.

Exactly ...

I’m 6’2 173 lbs as of this morning and I measure a 22.2 BMI. I don’t think it takes into account bone structure etc, because most consider me “skinny”

Allow me to dress down the OP on your behalf.

Dear OP,

Come on, man. It's 2019. Fat is beautiful. All bodies are beautiful. I take personal offense to this thread because my dad's black lab is 65 pounds and 21 inches tall, and thus has a BMI of 94.

Todd Gurley is about 6’1” and 230. According to a BMI chart he’s just about obese.

For life expectancy maybe. Still don’t agree with the definition of obese.

It works perfectly at raising employee contributions to company health care plans. If I was the weight needed for my BMI to be cost neutral I would be a desiccated carcass in my grave.

Great accomplishment...truly.

But instead of risking a heart attack or stroke, you risk death by vehicle accident

It’s one risk or another any way you cut it.
