Back in the Game (114060)

The last time I posted on this forum was in this thread: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?p=7627791

Exactly two years ago I was mugged in the East Village and my 114060 was stolen. It was my only Rolex; I had consolidated all of my other watches and saved up forever to buy it.

I had to drop out of forums (was more active on Canadian forums and WUS) since I was pretty hurt. By the time I had saved up enough to buy another the SS craze had taken over and wasn't able to find one at an AD or willing to pay the markup.

I went back and forth on what to buy when I had the cash again, vacillating between a Bluesy and TT RG DJ w/ Wimbledon dial, but what I really wanted was another ND SubC (IMO, the most handsome watch in the Rolex lineup).

Just this past weekend I finally found another 114060 in my price range and went for it. I'll always regret the first one was lost, but it feels just as good on my wrist the second time! I wanted to buy now as I'll be getting married In June and starting a family shortly thereafter, and wanted to have it with me through that.

The only bright side is I was able to develop a relationship with my two Nomos watches by wearing them daily, and they're part of the family now.

Anyways, here it is! Hope to be more active on the forums going forward.

Way to stick with it! I agree that the dateless sub is one of the better looking Rolex pieces.

One thing.... Insure it this time! So easy to do by getting an appraisal and adding it to your homeowners policy as a schedule item.

Congrats on your new watch. So sad to hear of your theft and glad you lived to tell about it. I love the (no-date) Sub. Have you considered getting insurance coverage for it? Won’t help with the thugs but might save some pain afterward. It’s not expensive, at least in my experience...worth checking out. What an exciting time for you with the upcoming wedding. I wish you all the best!

Glad you're back in the Rolex game

The lowlifes that stole your watch will probably end up with a knife or bullet inside of them some day, crime doesn't pay.

My solace when it was stolen was that one day I’d be able to afford another one (and more), the only way a crook will get another Rolex is through more crime.

Congratulations and welcome back! Very sorry that happened to you, some people in this world are really horrid.

I hope that this becomes part of the family just as the two Nomos did!

You're certainly right, I could have let it turn me off watches since I was a couple years away from buying back in, so it's more special since it took effort and planning just to get back to where I was. Knock on wood, I'll have this one for keeps.

Sorry to hear that, hope it wasn't your only watch. If it was, you'll get back there. Canadian seller rip you off?

It certainly will, I'll always appreciate those Nomos though (both Orions). They really are special watches and were with me during some big life changes (moving to NY, meeting my fiancee).
