Little Annoyed - Tudor GMT
I bought a Tudor GMT in late February. I bought it used, from the same AD that sold it new in June of last year. I assumed that I'd need to send it to RSC Dallas at some point to deal with the date issue, and sure enough, just 3 days after buying I had to drop it off at the AD due to a timekeeping error. "No big deal," I thought. I'd really wanted the watch, and was fully aware that purchasing one meant it would very likely have to make a trip to RSC.
It was sent in on March 1st. A week later, I was told by my AD that a full movement swap was going to take place, but they didn't have a time-frame for when I'd get it back. I assumed, based on the reports of others, that I'd have it back in a few months. I got a call today saying that they just ordered the new movement, and it would be an additional 8-10 weeks before they'd receive it from Geneva. That means it will likely have been at RSC Dallas for 5 whole months. I won't have it back until late July or early August. They didn't order a movement right away and have been testing it. For some reason, the timing issue won't show itself unless it's on the wrist. A tech from RSC couldn't replicate it until they wore it on the wrist for a week and had the same problem. Has anyone else been without a modern Tudor/Rolex for 5 months? It just seems excessively long to be in service. Over two months of just "testing?" You'd think they'd just order a new movement if they couldn't figure out the problem within a week or two. Also, what could possibly cause a watch to run slowly (15 minutes) on the wrist in a day, while it would run perfectly fine while laying down? On the bright side, my AD has been wonderful, going so far as to offer a full refund today. |

I would take the refund and ask to be moved to the top of the list for something you like.

I would be more than a little annoyed, but you have a solution so take it and get something else.

I've thought about taking the refund and buying another one, but I don't to take the chance that I'll run into future date window issues, necessitating another RSC trip down the line. I think I'd like to just get it over with and get this one fixed up so I don't have to worry about it.

I would weigh if you really want a BBGMT still or if this has ruined it for you. If you do I think I would use this to my advantage and get some perks from the AD while I wait for mine to return. Whether that's a guarantee to receive another watch you like in a timely manner, jewelry for the partner, etc.
I see no reason in taking a refund to turn around and buy the same watch when it could have issues down the line also and still take you until July to get it. |

That’s something I would try and take advantage of as the likelihood is that the AD would be more compelled. Worst case, they refuse to offer you the gesture by favouring your circumstance and you’re still in the same position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Take the refund, but apply it towards a new one with the same dealer that has tried to help you.

I had the same problem. Was called a month ago and told the movement would have to be changed after RSC already had the watch for a month at least. I choose to wait - it’s still very frustrating.

Tudor threads should have their own section or be on the "other" thread imo.

I’m confused. Why would assume that buying an almost new Tudor would require an imminent trip to RSC?
I’d be expecting ten years trouble free minimum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I love the look of the Tudor GMT, but btw your issue and the date change issue, just think it's a lovely looking lemon.

The date changeover issue is a well-known fault for many of the early release GMT's, and I factored that into the purchase. I would not have expected a trip to RSC for any other Tudor as my Pelagos has been +- 1 sec/day for almost 2 years now.

I didn't really want this to be a Tudor vs Rolex thread. Both brands make incredible watches. A fault with a newly launched movement can, has, and will, continue to affect many brands.
I'm more concerned with the service I had from RSC, which is obviously shared by both brands. |

Yeah. Sorry, but not with that snowflake hour hand. If only they’d put the Mercedes back it would almost be like a great five digit series. That’s the only sticking point for me - the hour hand. And maybe the diamond end on the GMT hand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sorry to hear it. I have a feeling they're just running out of movements from Geneva and 3-5 month waits may be common at this point.

Right thanks, I didn’t know about that. What’s the issue? Does it fail to change over completely or just late? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Huge pain, and I'm really disappointed that no one from Tudor has publicly acknowledged the issue. I'm also angry at the watch "press" for almost universally lauding this watch on release, but not asking a single Tudor exec to address it on the record. |
