Incoming - 1963 Explorer !

Received this beauty today.. I am a bit shit with photos but just did two quick cell phone snaps to share after a little soap and water.

So its a 901,XXX serial, 1963, Type 2 Chapter Ring Gilt Dial. It has both an underline and exclamation which appears to be very unsual but makes perfect sense for this serial range which is sort of the transition area from exclamation to underlines.

It is a one owner watch from here in Norway where it has been in a drawer for around 30 years since the gentlemen who purchased it passed away and his grandson collected it up. They said he was a fancy guy who owned a restaurant and liked to have nice things.

It came on a 93150 which literally had lint between the links and sort of a layer of dust build up that I gently washed from around the case/bezel.

This dial is about as close to flawless as I have seen. Some very small hairline scratches but the sort of thing you are picking out under a loupe or very close with naked eye.

I decided to throw it on a NATO until I can source a period correct oyster or experiment possibly with a nice leather strap.

I am beyond chuffed the chapter ring / recessed 3, 6 ,9 are such a joy to look at and the size is a nice break from the hulking cases of today.
